Rash and itching after moxibustion

Rash and itching after moxibustion

Moxibustion is a relatively common treatment method, but some friends will experience rashes and itching on their skin after using moxibustion treatment. From the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine, this is caused by the presence of dampness in the patient's body. If you feel unwell after using moxibustion, you should seek follow-up treatment in time.

After moxibustion, rashes appear on the skin, and symptoms such as unbearable itching, irritability and shortness of breath are all caused by dampness, coldness and wind in different internal organs of the body from the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine.

For example, urticaria is caused by the accumulation of dampness due to spleen deficiency, which is unable to be transported and transformed. It colludes with the wind evil caused by the liver fire turning into wind, enters the blood, and occurs in patches without being localized... All other rashes, macules, papules, herpes zoster, etc. that Western medicine says have various symptoms... are all caused by the wind evil and cold evil gangs dominated by dampness, which roam around and cause damage, leading to various skin diseases.

After moxibustion, the penetration effect of the Yang Qi of the moxibustion effectively replenishes and restores the Yang Qi of the liver, spleen, and kidneys, thereby strengthening their functions, and enhancing their detoxification and self-healing abilities. The force that fights against pathogenic factors causes them to be driven out of the internal organs, blood, and other tissues and organs and enter the skin. When they are being discharged, rashes with various symptoms will appear on the skin. This is the detoxification and disease elimination reaction in traditional Chinese medicine.

Similar to the rashes mentioned in Western medicine, some are unbearably itchy, some are painful, some ooze yellow fluid, and some are dry and flaky... The more itchy it is, the heavier and deeper the poison is, and the more serious the damage to the internal organs, blood, and organs.

If the pathogenic factors can penetrate to this extent, it can be judged that the pathogenic factors have been inside for a long time, and it can be called a "long-term chronic disease". Such patients are often quite impatient. Since they have a chronic disease, they need to use moxibustion for a period of time to detoxify the body. Don't be impatient.

One of the functions of the skin is that it is the largest detoxification organ of the human body. If there is any disease in the body, the body will first excrete it through the skin. No matter how scary the toxins that can be excreted to the skin look, they are no longer threatening.

Traditional Chinese medicine says: "Any disease that occurs is first controlled from within and then manifests itself externally." As long as the evil can be expelled, the disease will be cured. It all depends on whether the patient can give the evil a chance to be expelled. Whether you can persist until the pathogenic factors are completely eliminated.

There are two sentences in "On the Pain, Itch and Numbness of Sores and Ulcers" - "If fire burns near human skin, it will cause sores. If it is close to the fire, it will be painful, and if it is slightly far away, it will be itchy. Pain is real, and itching is virtual. It is not virtual due to deficiency and cold, but rather slight heat." In this passage, the author uses the distance between people and fire to explain the relationship between pain and itch. If it hurts, it's because you are close to the fire; if it itches, it's because you are far from the fire.

Therefore, "itching" is caused by deficiency, not physical weakness, but insufficient "fire power", which can also be understood as insufficient Yang Qi warmth. If we use moxibustion for a long time, the body's yang energy is abundant, and the wind, cold and dampness in the body are expelled, the "itching" will not occur!
