What are the types of breast diseases?

Breast disease is a disease that women are very likely to suffer from. This disease has a relatively large impact on women, and can cause breast pain, itching, breast lumps or inflammation, etc. When facing this disease, people need to pay special attention and take timely measures to deal with it to prevent more serious situations. There are many types of breast diseases. Let’s introduce them in detail below.

1. Mastitis

It is divided into acute mastitis and chronic mastitis: acute mastitis is generally caused by bacterial infection and is more common during lactation. The onset of chronic mastitis is a chronic inflammatory process, which is mostly caused by poor milk discharge and milk stasis that form nodules. Mastitis requires anti-inflammatory or surgical treatment, has a long treatment cycle, and is prone to recurrence. If not controlled in time, abscesses, bacteremia, and sepsis can easily occur, causing physical and mental pain to women.

2. Breast hyperplasia

It mostly occurs in middle-aged women and is related to endocrine disorders, ovarian dysfunction and other factors. Patients often feel breast pain, especially before menstruation, when symptoms worsen, causing a lot of inconvenience to patients' daily life and work. Moreover, since breast hyperplasia generally lasts for a long time, it will also cause certain psychological pressure on patients.

3. Breast fibroids

It is the most common tumor in the breast, more common in young women, and is related to excessive estrogen in the body. It can occur in one or both breasts and is usually a single tumor. Currently, the only treatment is surgery, but if the endocrine disorder in the body is not corrected, it is prone to recurrence. Minimally invasive surgery can minimize surgical scars.

4. Breast cysts

Breast cysts are caused by poor breast structure, inflammation, or other reasons that lead to the shedding of the epithelium in the mammary lobe or lobule ducts or the obstruction of the ducts by other substances. As a result, milk from the lobes is not discharged smoothly, and milk accumulates in the breasts, causing the ducts to expand and form cysts. Small cysts can be treated with regular observation and medication, while large cysts require surgical treatment.

5. Breast cancer factors

It is a malignant tumor that occurs in the breast and is related to genetic, environmental, and social-psychological factors. Breast cancer requires comprehensive treatment, mainly surgical treatment. The treatment time and cost are relatively high, which puts great pressure on patients and their families. If breast cancer metastasizes, it can be life-threatening.
