Clinical manifestations:

(2) The affected limb experiences swelling, soreness, heaviness, and pain, which is less severe in the morning and more severe in the evening.

(3) Nutritional changes in the skin of the lower leg: In the early stage, itching and scratching are the main symptoms. As the disease progresses, pigmentation may occur, mainly in the lower leg. Further development may lead to venous ulcers, which are difficult to heal. The ulcers are also mainly on the inner side of the lower leg.

Differential diagnosis of calf swelling:

1. Diffuse edema of the lower limbs: Diffuse edema of the lower limbs means that the edema starts from the lower limbs and is diffuse.

2. Calf edema: Calf edema refers to the accumulation of excessive fluid in the tissue spaces outside the blood vessels in the calf, resulting in edema.

3. Swelling and pain in the calf: After a tibial fracture, the calf becomes swollen and painful, and may have deformity and abnormal mobility. Tibial and fibular shaft fractures account for approximately 9.45% of all fractures in the body. It is particularly common in children under 10 years old, among which tibia and fibula fractures are the most common, accounting for 5.1% of all fractures, followed by tibia, accounting for 3.85% of all fractures. Fibular shaft fractures account for at least 0.59% of all fractures in the body.
