Prevention of mumps

Prevention of mumps

Mumps is very common in our lives, and mostly occurs in children. This disease is mainly caused by the mumps virus. It is a respiratory disease and the most obvious symptom is swelling of the cheeks. This disease is an infectious disease, so everyone must pay attention to prevention in order to protect their bodies.

Patients suffering from mumps must receive timely treatment, otherwise it will have a great impact on their body and life. First of all, not to mention the problem of image, if mumps is not treated in time, it will lead to a series of complications.

1. Prevention

Precautions before prevention and treatment

Children who become ill will be immune for life.

1. Isolate the patient early until the parotid swelling completely subsides. Tell children not to have close contact with people who are sick.

2. Pay attention to indoor ventilation and maintain air circulation. 0.2% peracetic acid can be used for disinfection at home. Do not participate in large group activities during the epidemic.

3. Get the measles, rubella and mumps triple vaccine. Strengthen the promotion of health knowledge, educate children to develop good personal hygiene habits, exercise more, and enhance their physical fitness. However, the live attenuated mumps vaccine cannot be used in pregnant women, people with congenital or acquired immunodeficiency, and those who are allergic to egg white.

4. For drug prevention, take 30 grams of Isatis root or 9 grams of honeysuckle decocted and taken once a day for 6 consecutive days.

5. Live attenuated mumps vaccine: This live attenuated vaccine is cultured in chicken embryo cells and has been used in large quantities abroad since 1966. Its effectiveness in preventing infection can reach 97% in children and 93% in adults. The live mumps vaccine can be used in combination with measles and rubella vaccines with satisfactory results, and the three do not interfere with each other. After immunization, neutralizing antibodies against mumps virus can be maintained for at least 9.5 years.

In addition to intradermal and subcutaneous injections, mumps live vaccine can also be administered by nasal spray or aerosol inhalation (in an aerosol chamber), which are also effective.

The above is an introduction to the prevention knowledge of mumps. I hope it can alert everyone. When facing infectious diseases, you must know how to protect yourself and how to prevent the invasion of diseases. If you encounter any discomfort in life, you should go to a regular hospital for examination and treatment in time.

Our country's data show that six months after immunization (nasal spray and aerosol inhalation combined), the incidence rate in the children's immunization group (7.4%) was significantly lower than that in the corresponding control group (78.5%), and the incidence rate in the adult immunization group (0.33%) was also lower than that in the corresponding control group (4.6%), with no adverse reactions. In view of the high incidence and severe condition of this disease in my country, the use of mumps vaccine should be arranged in a planned manner (including adults). Especially for new kindergarten classes, universal immunization can significantly reduce the incidence of disease. At present, my country has begun to gradually promote the application of this vaccine.

Mumps live vaccine cannot be used in pregnant women (to prevent the virus from infecting the fetus through the placenta and causing adverse consequences), people with congenital or acquired immunodeficiency, and those who are allergic to egg protein (because the live vaccine is obtained from chicken embryos).

General immunoglobulin, adult blood or placental globulin have no effect in preventing this disease. The blood of recovering patients and their immunoglobulins or specific high-cost immunoglobulins may be useful, but they are difficult to obtain and have a short protection period of only 2 to 3 weeks. Therefore, they are not widely used and their effectiveness needs further study.
