What to do if your nose bleeds continuously

Nosebleeds are very common in our daily lives. It is also a very normal phenomenon of the human body, especially in the summer when nosebleeds reach a peak or even become prevalent. But there are some special circumstances regarding nosebleeds. For example, some people's nose bleeds continuously, which is very scary. Why is this? Today I will tell you what to do if your nose bleeds continuously.

Nosebleed is also one of the common clinical symptoms. There are many reasons for nosebleed. Generally speaking, unilateral nosebleed is mostly caused by local reasons of the nose, while bilateral nosebleed is more common in systemic diseases. Bleeding from the front part of the nose is more common in children and young people, and is often caused by trauma, rhinitis and vitamin deficiency. Bleeding from the back part of the nose is more common in adult or elderly patients, and is mostly caused by diseases such as hypertension and arteriosclerosis. In addition, climate change, emotional excitement, fatigue, sneezing, and even blowing your nose can all be triggers of nosebleeds.

The causes of nose bleeding can be summarized as local causes and systemic causes.

1. Local causes: The nose is hit by external force or the nose is picked too deep or too hard.

The nasal septum is curved or has ridges or calcarine processes. Because the local mucosa is thin, it is easy to bleed after being stimulated by air.

③People with acute rhinitis and atrophic rhinitis are prone to bleeding.

In a few cases, bleeding is caused by tumors of the nasal cavity, sinuses or nasopharynx, such as hemangioma, malignant tumors, etc.

2. Systemic causes:

Arterial pressure is too high.

②Increased venous pressure.

③Suffering from an acute febrile infectious disease.

④Blood diseases, such as leukemia, hemophilia, various purpura, etc.

⑤Liver , spleen diseases and rheumatism.

Since the causes of nose bleeding are relatively complicated and ENT diseases are very intuitive, if you often have bilateral nostril bleeding, it is recommended that you go to the hospital for a detailed examination and diagnosis before treatment. If it is only occasional bleeding, it is not a big deal and may be related to dry climate or mild nasal inflammation.

Here are some temporary treatments for nosebleeds, I hope they will be helpful to you:

1. The blood clot should be blown out before stopping the bleeding to avoid the inability to stop the bleeding due to the inability to close the wound.

2. Pinch part of the nose flesh with your fingers and keep pressing for five to seven minutes to help stop the bleeding.

3. Ice compress can cause blood vessels to contract and reduce bleeding.

4. After the blood coagulates, it will form a blood clot and scab. At this time, it is best not to pick your nose to avoid peeling off the scab and causing recurrence of nosebleeds.

5. If your left (right) nostril is bleeding, raise your right (left) arm and the bleeding will stop after a few minutes.

Traditional Chinese medicine treats epistaxis mainly from two aspects: strengthening the spleen, replenishing qi and absorbing blood, and clearing away heat, cooling blood and stopping bleeding. For example, people with systemic malnutrition, vitamin deficiency, coagulation dysfunction, and some unexplained frequent nosebleeds accompanied by symptoms of qi deficiency can be treated with the method of strengthening the spleen, replenishing qi and absorbing blood. Nosebleeds caused by high fever due to infectious diseases are caused by the invasion of heat evil into the blood. Nosebleeds in patients with hypertension are often caused by insufficient kidney yin, hyperactivity of liver fire, and other nosebleeds accompanied by heat symptoms. Treatment starts with clearing heat, cooling blood and stopping bleeding. When nose bleeds, you should first use external treatments to stop the bleeding, and then differentiate and treat it based on whether it is spleen deficiency or blood heat.
