Diet for patients with liver cirrhosis

Diet for patients with liver cirrhosis

The liver function of patients with cirrhosis is much worse than that of ordinary people. Secondly, their internal metabolism and detoxification functions are also much worse than those of ordinary people. Therefore, they must be especially careful with their diet. If the diet is not scientific, it can easily lead to worsening of the condition. Therefore, patients with cirrhosis should pay special attention to their diet. Only with a scientific diet can they effectively control the further deterioration of the disease.

The diet of patients with cirrhosis is very particular, and the most important thing is to avoid high-calorie, high-protein and high-carbohydrate intake. Only such dietary principles and rules can effectively prevent the further deterioration of diseased cells in patients with cirrhosis and prevent the occurrence of serious liver cells in the body.

The dietary principles for patients with liver cirrhosis are as follows:

(1) A high-calorie diet can increase sugar intake

High-protein foods include milk, egg white, fish, shrimp, lean meat, etc.; high-carbohydrate foods include rice, white flour, fruit juice, etc.; to reduce high fat, you should try to eat vegetable oils such as soybean oil, peanut oil, etc.; high-vitamin foods include animal liver, egg yolk, carrot, corn, fruit, and green leafy vegetables, but because vegetables are large in size, low in calories, and affect the intake of other foods, they should not be eaten too much.

(2) Food Diversification

Because patients with cirrhosis have poor digestive function and poor appetite, their food should be diversified, fresh and delicious.

(3) Limit salt intake

Eat light food, especially light food when ascites occurs.

(4) Do not overeat

Overeating can increase the burden on the liver and easily cause blood vessel rupture and massive bleeding in patients with gastric varices.

(5) Food taboos

Moldy peanuts, spicy and irritating foods, fried foods, gas-producing foods such as sweet potatoes, potatoes, beans, soda, various canned foods containing lead and additives, sardines, mackerel, saury; tuna. Late-stage patients should avoid high-protein diets.

As long as patients with cirrhosis follow the dietary principles for patients with cirrhosis introduced above, the malignant development of cirrhosis can be controlled to a certain extent. Secondly, the most critical thing for cirrhosis is to control salt intake to avoid serious complications, such as the occurrence of ascites or systemic edema.
