How to treat joint pain?

There are many patients suffering from joint pain, and the joints are very easy to be injured during exercise, so the accompanying pain is also very common. There are two main causes of joint pain. One is the joint pain caused by me, and the other is the joint pain caused by infection. Therefore, patients must learn to distinguish them. The treatment methods of the two are different. If the joint pain is caused by external force, the patient should do the relevant work to disperse blood stasis and relieve pain. If it is an infection problem, it is best to see a doctor for examination and treatment. So how do you treat joint pain when it occurs?

1. For any joint pain caused by trauma : local disinfection should be performed first, and then the injury should be bandaged and fixed quickly. If conditions permit, you can take 0.5 to 1.0 grams of aspirin or 1 to 2 tablets of painkillers orally to relieve pain and prevent shock due to severe pain. For joint sprains, bruises, falls, hits, or bruises, if the skin is not broken and there is only redness, purpleness, swelling, and pain, apply cold compresses immediately (use ice bags, ice cubes, or a towel soaked in cold water, etc.) to prevent continued bleeding and to reduce swelling and relieve pain. When treating injured joints, all patients with joint injuries in the limbs, fingers, and toes should try to elevate the affected limb. To allow blood to flow back and reduce swelling and pain.

2. For muscle and joint pain caused by systemic fever, infection and other diseases , antipyretic, analgesic or anti-inflammatory drugs can be used before the cause is identified and cured. Generally, you can take 0.5-1.0 grams of aspirin, 3 times a day; 1-2 tablets of painkillers, 3 times a day; 0.6-1.0 grams of sodium salicylate, 3 times a day, or 1-2 tablets of antipyretic and analgesic tablets (compound acetyl salicylic acid), 3 times a day; or take 0.5 grams of paracetamol, 3 times a day. These medicines all have analgesic, antipyretic and anti-rheumatic effects. If you experience stomach discomfort after taking the medicine for 2 to 3 days, or if your condition does not improve, you should stop taking the medicine and consult a doctor. For redness, swelling, bloating and pain caused by clearly diagnosed rheumatoid arthritis, you can take 25 mg of indomethacin 2 to 3 times a day. Frequent use of this drug will damage the liver and kidneys and affect hematopoietic function. It is prohibited for pregnant women and the mentally ill. 100 mg of phenylbutazone, 2 to 3 times a day, usually takes effect within 1 week. Be aware of leukocytopenia and thrombocytopenia when taking this product. It is contraindicated for patients with glaucoma and liver disease.

3. Acupuncture therapy uses common acupoints such as body acupuncture, ear acupuncture, and plum blossom needle according to the location of joint pain , which has analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects.

4. Cupping therapy, according to the location of joint lesions, pain severity, injury and cause, according to the commonly used acupoints or pain points, cupping therapy is applied, which sometimes has remarkable effects in relieving pain, reducing swelling, inflammation and removing dampness.

5. Hot compress treatment: 24 hours after trauma and if there is redness, swelling and pain in the joints, you can use hot water bottles, hot bricks, fried fine sand or salt, etc. to do hot compress treatment on the joints under strict prevention of skin burns. Do it 1 to 2 times a day. It has analgesic, swelling-reducing and dehumidifying effects. If you have a hair dryer at home, you can first wrap the painful area of the joint with a wet cloth (gauze, towel, etc.), and use strong hot air to fumigate it for 30 to 45 minutes each time, 1 to 2 times a day. The analgesic effect is obvious. You can also use a 60-100 watt light bulb to illuminate the painful joint, without causing burns, and bake it for 15 to 20 minutes each time, which has a good analgesic effect.
