Is asthma contagious?

Asthma is a chronic airway inflammation. Patients will experience symptoms of chest tightness, shortness of breath, and cough, especially at night and early morning. The incidence of this disease is high. The harm of asthma is also very large. More and more people have died from this disease. It has become the most serious disease threatening our human health. So is asthma contagious? Let's take a look.

Everyone should know the dangers of asthma. If this disease is not well treated when it occurs, it will easily threaten the patient's life safety. Many people are also worried about whether asthma is contagious, fearing that this disease will cause infection.

Asthma is not an infectious disease and is not contagious. However, there is a genetic tendency. For example, if parents have allergic constitutions and suffer from asthma, their children will have a slightly higher chance of developing asthma.

The formation and onset of asthma are related to both genetic factors and environmental factors. Many survey data show that the incidence rate of relatives of asthma patients is higher than the group incidence rate, and the closer the relationship, the higher the incidence rate; in a family, the more people with the disease, the higher the incidence rate of their relatives; the more serious the patient's condition, the higher the incidence rate of his relatives. Environmental factors that affect asthma mainly include contact with inhalable animal and plant allergens (allergens), air pollution, respiratory tract infections, especially viral and mycoplasma infections, exercise and hyperventilation, weather changes, certain foods and food additives, drugs and neuropsychiatric factors including emotional excitement, fear, etc. In addition to genetic factors, any of the above environmental factors can induce or trigger asthma. Among the various environmental factors that trigger asthma, allergies are the most common and important. Common indoor allergens include house dust mites, cockroaches and other insects, mold, etc.; common outdoor allergens include pollen, ragweed and mold. The protein components in certain foods such as milk, eggs, fish, shrimp, crab, etc. can also act as allergens and induce asthma.

From the above introduction, we know that asthma is not contagious, so don't worry. However, there is a certain chance that this disease will be inherited. People with a family history of this disease must take timely prevention measures, and patients must seek treatment in a timely manner. They should avoid allergens, do not raise small animals, increase nutrition, and avoid some mental stimulation.
