What are the symptoms of skin deficiency?

Spleen deficiency is a term for a disease in Traditional Chinese Medicine, which refers to some digestive tract symptoms caused by spleen weakness. For example, such patients often suffer from constipation or loose stools, loss of appetite, decreased gastric motility, etc. For women, there may be abnormal leucorrhea, certain gynecological diseases, and reduced or insufficient menstrual flow, etc.

What are the symptoms of skin deficiency?

1. Digestive tract: constipation or loose stools

From the perspective of the digestive tract, symptoms caused by spleen deficiency generally include: loss of appetite, picky eating, and loss of taste in the mouth. The spleen plays a very important role in the digestion and absorption of food, so almost all gastrointestinal diseases can occur or be accompanied by spleen deficiency. Spleen deficiency usually causes loose stools, but it may also cause dry stools and constipation, because spleen deficiency can cause a lack of motility in the stomach and intestines.

2. Gynecology: too much or too little vaginal discharge

Women often suffer from spleen deficiency and dampness due to gynecological inflammation. Excessive vaginal discharge and excessive or insufficient menstrual flow may be caused by spleen deficiency. Too little menstrual flow is due to insufficient Qi and blood caused by spleen deficiency, resulting in too thin endometrium growth; too much menstrual flow is due to the inability of spleen deficiency to retain menstrual blood. 3. Muscle: Obesity or Thinness

The spleen controls muscles, so people with spleen deficiency will feel general fatigue, sweat a lot, and have shortness of breath. In addition, the eyelids are called "meat wheels". If the spleen is weak, the eyelids will feel heavy, as if they cannot be lifted up, and the lower limbs will be prone to edema. The body is too thin because the spleen is weak and cannot transport and transform food, making it difficult to absorb. Obesity is caused by spleen deficiency which produces dampness, which is difficult to transport and transform and thus accumulates in the body. Obesity due to spleen dampness often results in obesity in the belly.

4. Sleep: Drooling is also caused by spleen deficiency

People with spleen deficiency will experience symptoms of memory loss, and will also feel dizzy and have poor sleep quality. Many people drool when they sleep, which is also related to spleen deficiency. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that saliva is the fluid of the spleen and will not overflow under normal circumstances. Only when the spleen is weak and cannot retain body fluid will drooling while sleeping occur.

5. Self-examination: Look at your tongue

In addition to the symptoms we mentioned above, you can also look at your tongue in the mirror. If there are obvious tooth marks on the edge of the tongue, it is a sign of spleen deficiency.
