Can saliva transmit HIV?

There is one disease in the world that has no perfect treatment yet, and that is AIDS. According to global surveys, a large number of patients are diagnosed with AIDS every year. Once you are diagnosed with AIDS, it means you have to undergo long-term treatment, and the possibility of cure is very slim. But there are also many people who will not give up treatment and want to grasp that little bit of hope.

When the word AIDS is mentioned, it can be said that the person's face will change. Changing face means changing the look of the face. To be precise, there are two reasons why AIDS is so scary. One is that it is a viral disease that is untreatable, and the other is that it is contagious.

There are three ways of transmission of AIDS. They are blood transmission, sexual transmission and mother-to-child transmission. In my country, HIV infection is divided into acute phase, asymptomatic phase and AIDS phase.

(A) Acute phase: usually occurs about 2-4 weeks after the initial HIV infection. The main clinical manifestations are fever, sore throat, night sweats, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, rash, joint pain, lymphadenopathy and neurological symptoms. Most patients have mild clinical symptoms, which last for 1-3 weeks before being relieved.

HIV-RNA and P24 antigen can be detected in the blood during this period, while HIV antibodies only appear several weeks after infection. The lymphocyte count decreases transiently and the CD4/CD8 ratio may be inverted.

(II) Asymptomatic period

The patient may enter this stage from the acute phase, or may enter this stage directly without obvious acute phase symptoms.

This period usually lasts 6-8 years. But there are also those who progress rapidly and those who do not progress for a long time. The length of this period is related to many factors, including the number and type of infected viruses, the route of infection, and the body's immune status.

(III) AIDS stage

It is the final stage of HIV infection. The patient's lymphocyte count decreased significantly and the HIV plasma viral load increased significantly. The main clinical manifestations of this stage are HIV-related symptoms, various opportunistic infections and tumors.

But for AIDS carriers, it is a physical and mental torment, because everyone knows how terrible AIDS is, so everyone will ostracize those AIDS carriers. Even when eating, everyone stayed away. As you can see from the above, AIDS cannot be transmitted through saliva. Unless the carrier has bleeding in the mouth and you also have bleeding in the mouth, and then eat the same food, there is a chance of being infected.
