Precautions after mydriasis

Precautions after mydriasis

Due to the deterioration of the current environment and many people's lack of attention to eye hygiene, many eye diseases have occurred. Failure to pay attention to good eye habits has led to common symptoms such as myopia, hyperopia, and presbyopia in the elderly. We cannot ignore eye diseases. Many young people are in the high-frequency period of learning and eye use, so it is very important to treat myopia or hyperopia. Mydriasis refraction should be performed before treatment. More parents and friends are more concerned about precautions after mydriasis.

The eyes are the windows to the soul. This sentence illustrates the importance of eyes. Many bad eye habits are key factors leading to eye diseases. Before treating eye diseases such as myopia and hyperopia, opticians will dilate the pupils and match the eyes to more accurately and reliably check the refractive power of the eyes, so that the treatment can be more complete.

Note after mydriasis refraction

(1) Any eye ointment applied to the outer skin of the eye must be wiped clean.

(2) Since atropine can dilate the pupil, it is normal for patients to feel photophobia and have difficulty seeing near objects.

(3) During mydriasis, you should avoid strong light stimulation, especially strong sunlight stimulation, and wear a brimmed hat or sunglasses outdoors.

(4) During the period of mydriasis, near vision is blurred, so children should be carefully cared for to avoid injuries.

(5) Since mydriasis is used to relax the ciliary muscles, do not use your eyes at close range during mydriasis, such as reading, watching TV, or using a computer.

(6) In a very small number of children, if they develop obvious facial flushing, thirst, fever, headache, nausea, vomiting, constipation, hallucinations, convulsions, excitement, eyelid edema, etc. after mydriasis, these symptoms may be considered as adverse reactions to atropine and the drug should be stopped immediately or an ophthalmologist should be consulted.

(7) After stopping the mydriasis medication, it will take about three weeks for the pupil to return to normal, but due to individual differences, the pupil recovery time will also vary, which is normal.

Mydriasis refraction is the correct procedure to ensure that teenagers and children have their eyes tested and wear glasses. After mydriasis refraction, you must pay attention to eye hygiene. At the same time, don't worry if a series of myopia occurs. Be sure to avoid strong light stimulation. You can wear sunglasses and hats to block the light when going out. At the same time, you should pay attention to developing good eye habits in daily life, eat more fruits and vegetables or some foods rich in vitamins, and do not eat spicy foods that irritate the eyes.
