Causes of purple toenails

Causes of purple toenails

A big reason for purple toenails is blood accumulation caused by frozen toenails. As long as you soak your feet in hot water, the problem will disappear quickly. Therefore, we recommend that patients do not worry too much about the phenomenon of purple toenails. If your toenails turn purple due to an injury caused by pressing on your toes, we recommend that you pay more attention to rest, massage your toenails, etc.

Purple toenails or fingernails indicate poor microcirculation and require early treatment. This is not a big deal if it occurs in the limbs, but it can be a big problem if it occurs in the internal organs or the heart and brain. Fortunately, you are careful and observant. As long as you pay attention to the details, you will be fine. In the past, diseased nails had to be removed, with methods such as surgical removal; after the diseased nail was removed, iodine was used to remove the fungus until a new nail grew out. Now, with the advent of a variety of new drugs, oral medications for the treatment of onychomycosis have also achieved good results. Commonly used drugs include: Sporanox, Lamisil, Terbinafine, etc.

The tops of the human limbs, that is, the toes and handtips, are far away from the heart and have a weaker blood supply. In winter, the heat of the handtips is lost and the blood cannot supply the heat quickly. The handtips will be at a lower temperature, the capillaries will contract, the blood flow will be poor, the venous blood cannot return immediately, and the arterial blood cannot be supplied immediately, so the nails will turn purple. In severe cases, frostbite will occur.

Prevention methods: Onychomycosis is mainly acquired through cross-infection. The main preventive measures include avoiding wearing public slippers, foot basins, shoes and socks, etc. In today's world where foot massage is popular, be careful to prevent cross infection. When visiting friends and family, you can use shoe covers instead of changing shoes, and be sure to wash your feet thoroughly after trying on new shoes in a store. Be sure to wear breathable shoes and avoid using public manicure and nail care equipment. Don't use low-quality nail polish. Preventive drugs are generally not recommended for prevention. Astringents or desiccants can be used for excessive sweating.

For the case of purple toenails, we should adopt some appropriate means to regulate it in our lives. Although this disease is not serious, it has a certain impact on our physical health. It may cause blood circulation in the toenails to be blocked, which causes hypoxia in the toenails.
