Acute submandibular gland inflammation

Acute submandibular gland inflammation

Acute submandibular gland inflammation is an inflammation of the floor of the mouth. Many patients will experience redness and swelling, with pus or inflammatory fluid flowing out. Some patients will also have a fever, and their breathing and pulse will accelerate. If patients with acute attacks are not treated in time, they may develop chronic submandibular gland inflammation. The disease is very painful during the onset, and the whole body will feel uncomfortable, so patients need to seek medical treatment in time.

Many patients have difficulty eating during the onset of acute submandibular gland inflammation. Their mouths hurt, they can't eat, and they don't even want to eat. Therefore, we must pay attention to it. During the treatment, we must pay attention to oral hygiene. In addition, drinking more acidic beverages can help the recovery of the disease. Let us learn about the relevant content of acute submandibular gland inflammation, and hope it will be helpful to you.

(I) Causes: Submandibular gland inflammation is often caused by blockage of the duct by stones, but may also be caused by other foreign bodies such as bone fragments, wheat awns, etc. entering the duct. Bacterial infection through catheter entry can also be seen clinically.

(ii) Clinical manifestations: Submandibular gland inflammation is often chronic, but may also occur acutely. Acute submandibular gland inflammation is a general symptom of acute inflammation. The patient has swelling and pain at the floor of the mouth and redness and swelling in the submandibular triangle. The opening of the submandibular gland duct is red and swollen, and pus or inflammatory fluid flows out when the submandibular gland is compressed. Systemic symptoms include fever, rapid breathing and pulse, and increased white blood cell count and neutrophil count.

Patients may have repeated acute attacks, which may also turn into chronic diseases. Sometimes hard stones can be felt by palpation of the patient's submandibular gland duct, and positive stones can sometimes be found on X-ray films.

(III) The treatment method is anti-inflammatory treatment. Strengthen oral hygiene, drink more acidic beverages, and perform incision and drainage for localized abscesses. If it is caused by stones, remove the stones after the inflammation is controlled. If deep stones cannot be removed, or if the disease recurs clinically and the gland is enlarged and fibrotic, submandibular gland removal can be performed.

I believe everyone knows about acute submandibular gland inflammation. If this happens, please seek medical attention in time. Severe patients may require surgery to recover, so everyone must go to a regular hospital for treatment to avoid affecting the condition and delaying treatment.
