How long should I rest after a kidney contusion?

How long should I rest after a kidney contusion?

Renal contusion and rupture are symptoms caused by a sudden fall or local injury. Generally, patients need to stay in bed and rest, and do appropriate exercise after the hematuria disappears in about 2 to 4 weeks. However, be careful not to get out of bed too early, because getting out of bed too early due to this injury can have a counterproductive effect. Once the patient is found to be bleeding frequently and the amount is relatively large, the doctor's advice should be followed and a healthy and reasonable recovery program should be followed.

General care

Rest. Patients undergoing surgical repair of renal contusion should pay attention to absolute bed rest for 2-4 weeks. No strenuous exercise is allowed after the visible hematuria disappears. Patients with severe renal contusion who undergo nephrectomy can rest in bed for 1-3 days before leaving the bed.

Observation of the condition

Pay attention to vital signs and complexion, especially changes in blood pressure and pulse, and promptly detect signs of bleeding in patients. Pay attention to the color and characteristics of urine locally, and pay attention to abdominal signs to detect signs of internal bleeding as early as possible

Treatment cooperation

1. Strictly follow aseptic techniques when changing dressings to prevent infection. If there are signs of infection, use sensitive antibiotics as directed by your doctor.

2. Keep the urinary catheter unobstructed and take good care of the drainage tube

Health Education

1. Instruct patients not to do strenuous exercise or heavy physical labor within 3 months after surgery.

2. Strengthen personal health protection.
