How to recover quickly from a leg injury

How to recover quickly from a leg injury

Hamstring sprains are common in daily life. Running, brisk walking, lifting heavy objects, etc. can all lead to hamstring sprains. A sprained ankle not only brings inconvenience to your life, but may also leave sequelae if not handled properly. We need to take good care of it to recover more quickly. What should you do if you accidentally sprain your hamstring and how can you recover quickly? So let’s take a look at the following care steps.

1. Relaxing tendons and activating blood circulation for sprained foot

The injured person can sit upright or lie on his back in bed, and the doctor (doctor or patient's relative) holds the injured person's injured ankle with one hand and the toe of the injured foot with the other hand. First, use the hand holding the toes to slowly stretch the injured foot, thereby driving the ankle joint to slowly stretch. After stretching for a while, let the injured foot stretch and bend toward the instep and sole, and turn inward and outward several times (the movement should be gentle and do not use excessive force). While doing the above movements, the hand holding the ankle should slowly stroke the tendons and unblock the meridians, but avoid pressing and kneading the affected area hard.

After the massage, stretch the injured foot toward the instep, make it 90 degrees to the calf and then slightly turn it outward. Then maintain this position and use a bandage or wide tape to fix the injured ankle to restrict the walking of the injured foot. After 3 weeks of bandaging, the fixation is removed and the patient can start practicing walking. During this period, patients can also take some blood-activating and blood-stasis-removing drugs (such as Yunnan Baiyao, Panax notoginseng tablets, etc.) to promote the repair of damaged tissues.

2. Drug fumigation for sprained foot

Take 1000 grams of fresh holly rhizome (holly is a common Chinese herbal medicine, also known as cat's thorn and hexagonal tea. The medicine has the effects of promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis, relaxing muscles and tendons, and dispelling wind and relieving pain), chop it into pieces with a knife, and add it to 5000 ml of water for boiling. After the water boils, continue to boil for 30 to 60 minutes, then pour the boiled liquid into a columnar wooden barrel (or other container that can soak the injured foot), and wait for the liquid to cool slightly (it is best to drop to a temperature that the skin can withstand.

Never put your feet directly into the freshly boiled medicine to avoid burns. Then soak the injured foot in the medicine and cover the mouth of the bucket with thick cotton cloth or other things to prevent the vapor of the medicine from leaking out. When soaking the injured foot, the patient should constantly move the injured ankle joint so that the medicine can fully fumigate the affected area. The patient can fumigate for 20 to 30 minutes each time, 1 to 2 times a day, until recovery. When patients use this method to treat severe ankle sprains, not only do they not feel any pain, but the therapeutic effect is also significant.

3. Chinese medicine external application for sprained foot

Take 9 grams each of peach kernel, frankincense, myrrh, and angelica dahurica, 6 grams each of safflower and blood clotting, and 30 grams of rhubarb, and grind these Chinese medicines into powder. Take an appropriate amount of the powder (depending on the size of the damaged area) and mix it with a small amount of flour and warm water to form a paste, and apply it directly to the injured ankle. The dressing can be changed once every 2 days. Generally, after 6 days of continuous use, the swelling of the injured area will significantly subside and the pain will also be significantly relieved. Continue taking the medication for another 6 days, and the swelling and pain in the injured area will completely disappear, and the function of the injured ankle joint will return to normal.
