Blood in vomit and tarry stools

Symptoms such as blood in vomit and tarry stools are most likely caused by gastrointestinal bleeding, which is a symptom of certain diseases. The key is that we must understand the situation. 1. Ulcer disease

Among ulcer diseases, duodenal bulb ulcer is the most common. The bulb is located below the pylorus, so when ulcers here bleed, the stools are mostly black, and if the bleeding is heavy and fast, it may be accompanied by vomiting blood. Patients with bulbar ulcers often complain of stomach pain when fasting, which is relieved or alleviated after eating. A small number of patients present with chest pain as the first symptom, which can be easily misdiagnosed as pleurisy or angina pectoris.

2. Gastric tumor

In addition to vomiting blood, gastric tumors are often accompanied by black stools. If there is no vomiting of blood, black stools are the main symptom. Middle-aged and elderly people should look at the color of their stool after defecation every day. If the stool is black or dark brown, they should be alert to upper digestive tract tumors, such as gastric cancer.

3. Esophageal varices, liver cirrhosis

Esophageal varices may cause vomiting of blood with black stools. If there is only black stool, you should pay attention to whether there is duodenal bulb ulcer, because patients with cirrhosis often have ulcer disease, and most of them are painless.

4. Esophagitis, hemorrhagic gastritis, cardiac mucosal laceration

These three diseases can also cause black stools, and they can only be identified with the help of gastroscopy. Sometimes all three symptoms only cause black stools without vomiting blood.
