Thalassemia

Thalassemia

There are many types of diseases, and there are many factors that cause diseases. Common diseases are caused by genetics, congenital, and acquired factors. Different diseases have different factors. Therefore, when treating, the method selection cannot be carried out arbitrarily, otherwise it will not be of any help to your own health. If you want to be able to treat your own diseases well, the method selection is very important. So what is thalassemia?

Many people don’t know much about thalassemia, and when treating such a disease, a good method is also needed, so that when treating the disease, they will know what kind of treatment method is best.

Thalassemia:

Thalassemia, also known as thalassemia, is a group of hereditary diseases. The pathogenesis is that the globin chains that synthesize hemoglobin are reduced or missing, resulting in abnormal hemoglobin structure. Red blood cells containing abnormal hemoglobin have reduced deformability and shortened lifespan. They can be destroyed prematurely by the liver, spleen, etc. of the human body, leading to anemia and even developmental abnormalities. This disease is medically known as hemolytic anemia.

Thalassemia is classified according to the affected amino acid chains. There are four types of peptide chains that make up globin, namely α, β, γ, and δ chains, which are encoded by their corresponding genes. The deletion or point mutation of these genes can cause synthesis disorders of various peptide chains, resulting in changes in the composition of hemoglobin. Thalassemia is usually divided into four types: α, β, δβ and δ, among which β and α thalassemia are more common. It can also be divided into mild or major thalassemia according to one or two gene defects.

Through the above introduction, we have a good understanding of what thalassemia is. Therefore, when treating such a disease, we must choose the correct treatment method. This will be of great help in stabilizing the patient's disease, preventing the disease from continuing to develop, and can also control the patient's disease well.
