What to do about arteriosclerosis

What to do about arteriosclerosis

Arteriosclerosis is the culprit of many cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. If its symptoms are more serious, it will lead to many complications and pose a very serious threat to the lives of middle-aged and elderly people. Therefore, in the face of arteriosclerosis, comprehensive treatment must be done to prevent arteriosclerosis from continuing to deteriorate and threaten your life. So, what should we do about arteriosclerosis?

If you want to solve the problem of arteriosclerosis, you must first pay attention to finding the cause when the disease occurs. Only in this way can you carry out targeted treatment and completely solve the problem of arteriosclerosis. In order to ensure the treatment effect, the patient must pay attention to a light diet.

1. Give full play to the patient's subjective initiative to cooperate with treatment

There is objective evidence that arteriosclerosis can be controlled through prevention and treatment, the lesions may partially disappear, and the patient can maintain a certain level of living and working ability. The lesions themselves can promote the formation of arterial collateral circulation, thereby improving the condition. Therefore, it is crucial to persuade patients to patiently accept long-term prevention and treatment measures.

2. Reasonable diet for arteriosclerosis

⑴ The total calories of the diet should not be too high, so as to maintain a normal body weight. People over 40 years old should especially prevent obesity. A simple calculation method for normal weight is: height (cm) minus 110 = weight (kg), which can be used as a reference.

⑵ Even if people over 40 years old do not have high blood lipids, they should avoid consuming too much animal fat and vegetable oil containing saturated fatty acids, such as: fatty meat, lard, bone marrow, cream and its products, coconut oil, cocoa butter, etc.; avoid eating too much high-fat foods, such as: liver, brain, kidney, lung and other internal organs, squid, oysters, cuttlefish, fish roe, shrimp roe, crab roe, egg yolk, etc. If blood lipids continue to rise, you should eat physical fat foods, such as: various lean meats, chicken, duck, fish, protein, soy products, etc.

⑶ Those who exceed the normal standard weight should reduce the total daily calorie intake, eat a low-fat (fat intake should not exceed 30% of total calories, of which animal fat should not exceed 10%), (not more than 500 mg per day) diet, and limit the intake of sucrose and sugary foods.

⑷ It is recommended to eat a light diet and eat more foods rich in protein (such as fresh vegetables, fruits) and plant protein (such as beans and their products). When possible, try to use soybean oil, rapeseed oil, sesame oil, corn oil, tea oil, rice bran oil, etc. as cooking oils.

⑸ Those who have been diagnosed with coronary atherosclerosis are strictly prohibited from overeating to avoid inducing angina pectoris or myocardial infarction. People with hypertension or heart failure should limit their intake of salt and sodium-containing foods.

3. Appropriate physical labor and sports activities

Participating in certain physical labor and sports activities is beneficial to preventing obesity, exercising the function of the circulatory system and adjusting blood lipid metabolism. It is an active measure to prevent arteriosclerosis. Physical activity should be determined based on original physical condition, original physical activity habits and heart function status, with the principle of not increasing excessive burden on the heart and not causing discomfort. Physical activities can be started gradually, and it is not advisable to force yourself to do strenuous activities. It is recommended that the elderly take a walk (one hour a day, in several sessions), do health exercises, and practice Tai Chi.

If you want to thoroughly understand what to do about arteriosclerosis, you also need to pay attention to preventing its complications, such as high blood pressure, liver disease and other middle-aged and elderly diseases. In addition, you must have a regular life, not be too excited, and avoid bad habits such as smoking and drinking. Only in this way can you better cooperate with the treatment of arteriosclerosis and achieve better therapeutic effects.
