Rubella virus antibody positive

Rubella virus antibody positive

If a person is infected with the rubella virus, it will cause very serious harm to the body, especially for pregnant women. If infected with the rubella virus, the chance of fetal malformation will be very high. Therefore, many women will do rubella virus tests before preparing for pregnancy, and many women's diagnosis results are positive for rubella virus antibodies. What's going on?

When the rubella virus antibody is positive, many people will think that they are infected with the rubella virus. In fact, this is not the case. The so-called positive rubella virus antibody means that your body has a certain resistance to the virus, proving that you will not be infected with the rubella virus.

Rubella is a mild illness that occurs in early childhood. Although it is similar to measles, it is much milder than measles, so it is also called "three-day measles". However, if the virus that causes this disease infects a pregnant woman, it can invade the fetus and cause birth defects, so it has attracted much attention.

If the rubella virus enters the body of a person who has not been infected with the rubella virus, it will cause swelling of lymph nodes throughout the body around the 8th day after invasion. Fever has not yet appeared. But from this time on, the virus will appear in the blood (if the woman is pregnant, the fetus will be infected at this time). Syphilis can also occur in the throat, nose, and rectum.

After a child is infected with the rubella virus and then infects the mother who has not been infected with the virus, a rash will appear all over the body around the 13th to 15th day. Compared with measles, it is sparser and lighter in color. After the child develops a rash, when it is confirmed to be rubella, the mother has already been infected. The rash will disappear within 2 to 3 days.

About half of the people will have a fever (rarely exceeding 38°C) at the same time as the rash appears. Although the virus can no longer be detected in the blood at this time, the virus may remain positive in the throat, nose, and stool for 3 weeks. In fact, you are no longer contagious one week after the rash appears. If there is a child nearby who has rubella, when he goes to kindergarten after recovery, pregnant women before 16 weeks of pregnancy should not have contact with him within 3 weeks.

After knowing what a positive rubella virus antibody test means, I believe you will also have some understanding of some of the symptoms after being infected with the rubella virus. If you are worried that your baby will be infected with the rubella virus, our country now has a rubella virus vaccine, and you can have your child vaccinated for prevention.
