Seasonal urticaria

Seasonal urticaria

Speaking of urticaria, I believe that everyone will not feel unfamiliar with it, especially for people with allergic constitution. Urticaria is a very common condition, but urticaria is not only of allergic type. There is another more common type, which is seasonal urticaria. As the name suggests, seasonal urticaria is urticaria that only occurs in a certain season.

Seasonal urticaria is generally more prevalent in spring and autumn. Its clinical manifestations are very similar to those of allergic urticaria. Therefore, it is easy to treat it as allergic urticaria. In fact, the causes of seasonal urticaria are completely different.

There are many causes of seasonal urticaria, and about 3/4 of patients cannot find the cause:

1. Drug-induced: Most drugs are caused by allergic reactions. Common drugs include: penicillin, furazolidone, serum products, vaccines, etc. There is a certain incubation period for the disease. Drugs such as aspirin, morphine, atropine, vitamin B1, polymyxin, etc. are histamine releasers themselves, which can directly stimulate mast cells to release histamine and cause seasonal urticaria.

2. Food causes: Mainly animal protein foods, such as fish, shrimp, crab, eggs, milk and other seafood are common causes of disease. Certain fruits and vegetables can also cause allergies. Condiments, preservatives, pigments added to food, and natural or synthetic substances in food such as salicylic acid and citric acid can also cause seasonal urticaria.

3. Inhalation of animal dander, pollen, fungal spores, dust, feathers, etc.

4. It can be caused by bacterial infection, fungal infection, viral infection, parasitic infection, etc.

5. Insects such as mosquitoes, fleas, bees, wasps, etc.

6. Cold, heat, sunlight, friction, pressure, mechanical stimulation, etc.

7. Gastrointestinal diseases, tumors, connective tissue diseases, endocrine disorders, metabolic disorders, etc. can also be the causes of seasonal urticaria.

8. Mental stress, mood swings, depression, etc. can also be the triggering factors of urticaria.

After understanding the causes of seasonal urticaria, I hope that everyone can prevent the occurrence of seasonal urticaria based on these factors. Although it is different from allergic urticaria, for friends with allergic constitution, they need to pay more attention to these causes to prevent the occurrence of seasonal urticaria and avoid the impact of the disease on your physical health.
