For insomnia and frequent dreams, add jujube seeds, dragon bones, and oysters; for hemiplegia, add astragalus, whole worms, and earthworms; for severe limb coldness, add cinnamon and aconite. Qi and blood deficiency, brain marrow depletion type: The main manifestations are pale complexion, fatigue and drooling, insomnia, poor appetite, numbness of limbs, dull expression, preference for quiet and aversion to movement, shortness of breath and laziness to speak, pale tongue with thin coating, and thready and slow pulse. The treatment is suitable for nourishing blood, improving intelligence and strengthening the brain. Medicinal ginseng, Atractylodes macrocephala, Poria cocos, Angelica sinensis, white peony root, yam, Polygonatum sibiricum, Astragalus membranaceus, longan meat, Ziziphus jujuba seed, placenta, and Alpinia oxyphylla are decocted in water and taken orally. For those with stiff and swollen neck, add Pueraria root; for those with dry and hard stool, add Ligustrum lucidum and Cassia tora. Yin deficiency and hyperactivity of fire, brain marrow atrophy type: the main manifestations are irritability, insomnia, red cheeks and dry throat, dizziness and tinnitus, dry eyes, dry skin, red tongue with little coating, and a stringy and fine pulse. Treatment is suitable for nourishing yin and reducing fire, replenishing marrow and strengthening brain. Medicinal herbs such as Phellodendron chinense, Anemarrhena asphodeloides, Rehmannia glutinosa, Cortex Moutan, Yuanshen, Fructus Ligustri Lucidi, Fructus Lycii, Dragon Bone, Oyster, and Iron Fall are decocted in water and taken orally. For tremor, add tortoise shell and turtle shell; for soreness of waist and knees, add Eucommia ulmoides and Cornus officinalis; for mental dullness, add calamus and Polygala tenuifolia. The type of excessive phlegm and turbidity that obscures the brain: The main symptoms are heavy head and dizziness, chest tightness and shortness of breath, fatigue and love of lying down, numbness or heaviness of limbs, pale tongue with white greasy coating, and slippery pulse. The treatment is suitable for removing phlegm, clearing turbidity, opening up the orifices and refreshing the brain. Medicinal herbs such as Pinellia, Tangerine Peel, Poria, Rhizoma Anemarrhenae, Fructus Aurantii Immaturus, Polygala Tenuifolia, Curcuma Radix, Acorus Calamus, and Arisaema Cum Bile are decocted in water and taken orally. If the tongue is purple and dark, add Salvia miltiorrhiza and Chuanxiong; if there is poor appetite, add Hawthorn and Chicken Gizzard Stone; if there is abdominal distension and fullness, add Radish Seed. The treatment is suitable for promoting blood circulation, removing blood stasis, unblocking meridians and refreshing the brain. Medicinal herbs such as angelica, red peony root, chuanxiong, peach kernel, safflower, salvia miltiorrhiza, polygala, calamus, millettia reticulata, bupleurum, and Achyranthes bidentata are decocted in water and taken orally. For uncontrolled urination, add Alpinia oxyphylla; for ataxia, add Polygonatum sibiricum and Parambola; for blurred vision, add Chrysanthemum and Lycium barbarum. |
