1. Chronic hepatitis

1. Chronic persistent hepatitis: Acute hepatitis lasts for more than half a year, and there is still mild fatigue, loss of appetite, abdominal distension, and liver area

Symptoms include pain, etc., but usually no jaundice. The liver is enlarged with mild tenderness and percussion pain. Liver function tests mainly show elevated ALT. The disease may persist or fluctuate repeatedly for up to one year to several years, but it is generally mild.

Chronic active hepatitis means that patients have a history of hepatitis and currently have more obvious symptoms of hepatitis, such as fatigue, poor appetite, abdominal distension, loose stools, pain in the liver area, etc. The complexion is often dull, the general health condition is poor, and the labor force is reduced. The liver is enlarged and hard, accompanied by tenderness and percussion pain, and the spleen is often enlarged. Jaundice, spider angiomas, palmar erythema, and prominent acne may occur.

(II) Acute hepatitis

1. The course of acute icteric hepatitis can be divided into three stages.

(1) In the early stages of jaundice, fever usually occurs, accompanied by general fatigue, loss of appetite, aversion to oil, nausea, or even vomiting. There is often upper abdominal discomfort, bloating, loose stools or diarrhea. In a few cases, upper respiratory tract symptoms, or rash, joint pain, etc. may occur. The urine color gradually darkens, and by the end of this period it becomes red tea-like. The liver may be slightly enlarged and tender to touch and percussion. Laboratory tests showed positive urine bilirubin and urobilinogen, and serum alanine aminotransferase (ALT) was significantly elevated. This phase generally lasts 5 (3 to 7) days.

(2) During the jaundice stage, the urine color becomes darker, and the sclera and skin appear yellow. The color deepens day by day, usually reaching a peak within a few days to 2 weeks, and then gradually decreases. The fever subsides quickly after the jaundice appears, while gastrointestinal symptoms and general fatigue increase weight, but they improve rapidly before the jaundice is about to subside. When jaundice is obvious, symptoms such as skin itching, lighter stool color, and bradycardia may occur. Jaundice in children is milder and lasts shorter. In this stage, the liver is enlarged to 1 to 3 cm below the costal margin, with obvious tenderness and percussion pain. In some cases, there is also mild splenomegaly. Significant changes in liver function. This phase lasts about 2 to 6 weeks.

(3) During the recovery period, jaundice subsides and the spirit and appetite improve. The enlarged liver gradually shrinks, and tenderness and percussion pain disappear. Liver function returned to normal. This period lasts about 1 to 2 months.
