Contact dermatitis symptoms

Contact dermatitis symptoms

Dermatitis is a common skin disease. Depending on the cause, it is divided into different types. The more common types are allergic and contact. Allergic dermatitis is caused by allergic symptoms, while contact dermatitis is generally caused by human skin coming into contact with some irritating substances, which leads to dermatitis symptoms on the skin. The symptoms of the two are very similar.

There are actually many substances that can irritate the skin and cause contact dermatitis, which can be roughly divided into three types: animal, plant and chemical. But no matter which one it is, if you don’t understand the symptoms of contact dermatitis, you will not be able to detect it in time.

The location and range of dermatitis are consistent with the contact site of the contact object, and the boundaries are very clear. However, if the contact object is gas or dust, the dermatitis is diffuse without definite clear boundaries, but it mostly occurs in exposed parts of the body.

Most subjective symptoms include itching and burning or distending pain. In a few severe cases, there may be systemic reactions such as fever, chills, headache, nausea, etc.

The course of the disease is self-limited. Generally, after the cause is eliminated and treated properly, it can be cured in 1 to 2 weeks. Repeated contact or improper handling may turn into subacute or chronic dermatitis, presenting as reddish-brown lichenoid or eczematous changes.

Irritant contact dermatitis may manifest clinically as erythema, blisters, and exudation in the acute phase. Subacute and chronic cases may present with erythema, roughness, desquamation, and fissures. Depending on the nature of the contact irritant and the duration of contact, the clinical manifestations may include acute irritant dermatitis, delayed acute irritant dermatitis, irritant reaction, cumulative irritant dermatitis, pustular irritant dermatitis, mechanical stimulation-induced dermatitis, etc.

This is all I have to say about the symptoms of contact dermatitis. In order to prevent the occurrence of contact dermatitis, I hope that you all will be careful not to let your skin come into contact with irritating substances. At the same time, please note that systemic treatment is required during treatment to ensure a good treatment effect.
