What are the effects of vitamin E on the skin?

Vitamin E is a nutrient element needed by the human body. Vitamin E has many benefits to the human body, especially skin care. Vitamin E is good for spots. Vitamin E can also promote lactation. For example, mothers who do not produce milk after childbirth can supplement with vitamin E to produce milk. For women with dysmenorrhea, vitamin E can also be used to relieve dysmenorrhea. What are the effects of vitamin E on the skin? Let’s take a look at it next.

1. What are the effects of vitamin E on the skin ?

1. Skin care

Applying 5% vitamin E acetate emulsion to the skin twice a day can reduce transdermal water loss by 19% and 24% respectively after 4 days. Because vitamin E can penetrate into the skin to exert its moisturizing effect, it is an ideal moisturizer. At the same time, vitamin E is effective in preventing ultraviolet damage, maintaining skin elasticity, and delaying the aging process of the skin.

2. Prevent and treat melasma

Supplementing with sufficient amounts of vitamin E (100 mg each time, 2 to 10 times a day) or combining vitamin E with zinc can prevent and treat chloasma. However, it should be noted that continuous use of the medication for more than 6 months may easily cause adverse reactions such as platelet aggregation and thrombosis. It should be taken under the guidance of a doctor.

3. Treatment of erythema multiforme

Take vitamin E orally, 75 mg each time, 3 times a day. Continue to take the medicine for 4 to 6 days after the rash subsides. For local itching, you can apply calamine lotion externally.

4. Delaying Aging

14The main function of vitamin E is anti-aging. Many people call it women’s “portable elixir of life”. It delays aging and maintains youthful vitality. Experiments have shown that human cells die after multiplying and dividing 50 times, while cells treated with vitamin E can divide more than 120 times, extending the lifespan of the cells by 2.4 times. In other words, vitamin E can slow down aging by 2.4 times.

5. Eliminate free radicals

Our bodies generate various free radicals during metabolism. Among them, 95% of free radicals are oxygen free radicals that are harmful to us. They attack cells, produce oxidation, damage cell function, reduce human vitality, cause aging phenomena such as wrinkles and spots on the face, and reduce the body's resistance, leading to multiple diseases. Natural vitamin E is the most direct capture of free radicals. Before the free radicals attack cells, it reacts with the free radicals and neutralizes them, thereby eliminating the corrosive effect of free radicals on human cells.

6. Remove spots and whiten your skin

Vitamin E can reverse skin aging and make the skin smooth and white. It is particularly effective in removing freckles. There are reports both at home and abroad that taking large doses of vitamin E (200 mg, orally twice a day) for 3 to 9 months can reduce or even eliminate facial chloasma and pigmentation spots, with an effectiveness rate of 70 to 90%.

2. Other functions of vitamin E

1. Treat peptic ulcer

Some people use vitamin E in combination with sucralfate and atropine to treat peptic ulcers. After taking the medicine, the symptoms disappeared and the ulcers healed, with a cure rate of 78.4% and a total effective rate of 91.5%. The cure rate of the control group was 16.7% and the total effective rate was 26.3%. The difference between the two groups was very significant. Usage: Vitamin E 400 mg, twice a day (take on an empty stomach in the early morning and before bedtime), each time take sucralfate 0.5 g and atropine 0.3 mg, do not eat for 1 hour before and after taking the medicine. Take the medicine continuously for 4 weeks.

2. Treatment of postpartum milk deficiency

Take 200 mg each time, 2 to 3 times a day, for 5 consecutive days. Results: Thirty cases of postpartum hypogalactia were treated with vitamin E, with an effective rate of 90%. In 26 cases, the milk secretion exceeded 60 ml each time within 5 days (less than 10 ml each time before treatment), which was significantly different from the control group.

3. Treatment of menorrhagia caused by intrauterine contraceptive device

5. Increase milk secretion

Take 600 mg of vitamin E orally every day from the 37th week of pregnancy until delivery. Results: After applying vitamin E, the amount of milk during lactation increased significantly.

6. Treatment of neonatal scleredema

Neonatal scleredema is a hardening and edema of skin fat caused by factors such as cold, premature birth and infection. Vitamin E can improve peripheral circulation, increase blood flow and promote metabolism. Give 5 to 10 mg of vitamin E once a day by intramuscular injection for 5 to 7 consecutive days, which will have a significant effect.

Eight patients with primary hemifacial spasm were treated with vitamin E, of whom five showed marked effects and three improved. Usage: 100 mg each time, 3 times a day, 1 course of treatment is 3 months. There was a female patient who had paroxysmal convulsions more than 10 times a day before treatment. Beat for 30 seconds each time. After 35 days of treatment with vitamin E, convulsions occurred occasionally, 1 to 3 times a day at most, sometimes only once every 2 to 3 days, and each time lasting only a few seconds.

9. Prevent and treat hemorrhoids

Taking vitamin E orally to treat hemorrhoids can achieve good results. Except for stubborn hemorrhoids that have persisted for many years, surgical treatment is generally not required. Usage: Take vitamin E orally, 50 mg each time, 3 times a day, with warm water. Usage for the treatment of calf cramps (gastrocnemius spasm): ① 10 mg of vitamin E, orally, 3 times a day, 7 days as a course of treatment; ② 5 mg of vitamin E, acupoint injection at the Weizhong point and Zusanli point on the affected side, 2.5 mg at each acupoint, once a day, 5 days as a course of treatment.

After taking the medicine, the ulcer pain disappeared in 22 cases and the wound healed after 2 to 3 days. In 19 cases of herpetic stomatitis, the pain disappeared and the epithelium of the ulcer surface began to repair after 3 to 4 days of medication. Usage: 3 grams of vitamin E, 0.1 grams of saccharin, 0.15 milliliters of vanilla essence, 100 grams of lactose, grind into powder and mix evenly, then apply on the ulcer surface, 3 times a day. Others have used vitamin E combined with berberine to treat children with recurrent oral mucosal ulcers, with an overall effective rate of 85%. Usage: Mix 1 capsule of vitamin E (100 mg) with 1 tablet of berberine (100 mg), apply to the affected area several times a day.

11. Enhance female reproductive function

Vitamin E is also called tocopherol. If the human body lacks vitamin E, it may easily lead to difficulty in fertilization or habitual miscarriage. Vitamin E can indeed enhance ovarian function and increase follicles. It can also cause women's gonadotropin-secreting cells to hyperactivate and increase secretion. Therefore, women who want to have a healthy baby must insist on supplementing with natural vitamin E.

12. Young cardiovascular system

The word atherosclerosis has often appeared in the media recently. It is also called a tumor of blood vessels. It is prone to form blood clots, causing myocardial infarction and stroke. It is the main cause of cardiovascular diseases such as coronary heart disease.
