What causes frequent colds?

With the changes in one's physical constitution and the influence of some common factors, including the environment and common seasonal factors, colds can occur. However, many patients often catch colds, so many diseases in daily life can cause some colds. At the same time, many patients and friends often do not treat or improve the problem of colds, which will cause more serious diseases, so timely treatment is more critical.

There are many reasons for frequent colds. In addition to the phenomena caused by seasonal changes in solar terms, there are also many common cold symptoms caused by insufficient self-immunity. The main symptoms in the early stages of a cold are runny nose, nasal congestion and sneezing. If symptoms are found, seek timely treatment.

The transition from autumn to winter, with temperatures fluctuating, is a high-incidence season for colds. At this time, some people often catch colds as the climate changes, and they catch a new cold before the previous cold is healed. They feel itchy and sore throats, tightness all over, alternating hot and cold, and confusion all day long. Generally speaking, people with sufficient health vitality are less likely to catch colds. Even if they do catch a cold, it is relatively mild and heals quickly. People with insufficient health motivation and low immunity are prone to catching colds; their symptoms after catching a cold are more severe than others and their fever does not subside; their colds last for a long time and are difficult to heal. Frequent colds can easily lead to complications such as pneumonia, myocarditis, and acute nephritis.

Therefore, at the turn of autumn and winter, people who are susceptible to colds should pay more attention to preventing colds. There are many ways to prevent colds, but the key to preventing and treating colds is to improve the driving force of health, enhance the body's immune function as well as the local immune function of the respiratory tract, trachea and bronchi, and resist various viruses or bacteria that invade the respiratory tract.

(1) Cold virus antibodies cannot remain in the human body for a long time. Antibodies to the common cold virus generally only last for about one month, while antibodies to the influenza virus can last for 8 to 12 months. Therefore, immunity after a cold generally lasts for one month, while immunity against influenza can last for 8 to 12 months.

(2) The immune effect of antibodies is specific. Although the human body can produce antibodies and gain immunity after a cold, this immunity is specific and only has an immune effect on the pathogens that cause the body to produce this immunity, but has no immunity to other pathogens. Therefore, it is also called specific immunity.

(3) There are many types of viruses that can cause colds. According to research, more than 90% of colds are caused by viruses. Currently, 12 types of more than 200 viruses have been found to cause colds. The most common ones are: influenza virus, parainfluenza virus, rhinovirus, syncytial virus, coronavirus, adenovirus and enterovirus. Shortly after a person recovers from a viral infection, he or she may be infected by another virus again, so a person may catch a cold repeatedly in a short period of time.

The above are the reasons for frequent colds. On the one hand, seasonal changes lead to some common colds, and more so due to one’s own immune deficiency leading to the invasion of some viruses and bacteria. At the same time, there are also many viruses that cause colds. Most colds are viral colds, which are very harmful to the human body. Therefore, in addition to adding more clothes during seasonal changes, you should also improve your own immunity and exercise more.
