What is safflower

Safflower, also known as thorny safflower, is a type of chrysanthemum. The leaves are thread-shaped, thin and long, and smell a special fragrance with a bitter taste. Safflower can be planted on a large scale, and is not easy to die. The survival rate is much higher than other plants. After being stir-fried, the oil yield of safflower is also very high. In recent years, many areas have planted safflower on a large scale. Generally, the air where safflower is planted is relatively fresh. Safflower cannot grow in places with serious air pollution.

Safflower needs to be harvested early in the south, because it is often rainy in the south. If it is not picked in time, it will all go bad, and in the south it will not be able to wait until it matures. Many people ask what safflower is. We will introduce these questions in detail.

Safflower can also be called: red and blue flower, thorny safflower, grass safflower. Origin: the flower of the safflower plant of the genus Safflower in the Asteraceae family. Original plant: biennial herb, 50-100cm high; stem erect, branched in the upper part. Leaves alternate, sessile; middle and lower stem leaves are lanceolate, ovate-lanceolate or elliptical, 7-15cm long, 2.5-6cm wide, with large serrations, double serrations, small serrations or entire edges, sparsely pinnately deeply lobed, with thorns on the top of the teeth, and the leaves upward gradually become smaller, lanceolate, with serrations on the edges, and the thorns on the top of the teeth are longer.

All leaves are hard, leathery and shiny. There are many capitula, arranged in umbels at the top of the stems and branches, surrounded by bracts; bracts are elliptical or ovate-lanceolate, with or without thorns on the edges; there are 4 layers of involucral bracts, the outer layer is harp-shaped, with constrictions in the middle or lower part, the leaves above the constriction are green, without thorns on the edges, or with comb-like thorns, and yellow-white below the constriction; the middle and inner layers are hard membranous, oblanceolate-elliptical to long oblanceolate, up to 2.2cm long, with gradually pointed tips; the florets are red or orange-red, all bisexual, tubular, 5-lobed in the upper part, and the lobes almost reach the base of the eaves.

Through the above introduction, everyone should have some understanding of safflower! Safflower is relatively mild. When there is blood stasis somewhere in the body, you can use safflower to soak your feet to stop bleeding and remove blood stasis. Female friends can drink safflower to relieve the pain of dysmenorrhea and make the blood circulate smoothly during dysmenorrhea. Women with excessive menstrual bleeding should not take safflower.
