What can't you eat if you have tuberculosis?

Everyone should be familiar with tuberculosis. You should have heard of this disease in normal times. The most common tuberculosis is pulmonary tuberculosis. Tuberculosis is a highly contagious disease. Generally, if you suffer from such a disease, you need to be isolated to avoid infecting other people. For patients with tuberculosis, the usual diet is also very important. Let's see what patients with tuberculosis should not eat.

Tuberculosis was very common in the past. It is not so common in today's society, but there are still some patients with tuberculosis. Among tuberculosis diseases, pulmonary tuberculosis is the most common, and the chance of infection is particularly high. We should know what people with tuberculosis should not eat.

1. Avoid eating green tomatoes, pickled mustard tubers, peppers, and raw onions to avoid inducing or aggravating coughing and hemoptysis.

2. Avoid eating hot foods such as dog meat, osmanthus, cinnamon, etc., so as not to damage the yin energy or aggravate hemoptysis and fever.

3. Avoid alcohol. Alcohol can increase heat and dissipate lung qi. It can activate blood circulation and easily cause hemoptysis, so you should avoid alcohol (except for health wine). Liquor is the most harmful.

4. Avoid eating any food that may cause allergic reactions, such as pollen products.

5. Avoid smoking. Smoking irritates the throat and trachea, induces coughing, vibrates the lungs, reduces the body's disease resistance, promotes the spread of tuberculosis lesions, and aggravates the systemic poisoning symptoms of tuberculosis (including hot flashes, night sweats, hemoptysis, and dry throat). Therefore, it should be avoided.

6. Avoid excessive sexual activity. Generally speaking, tuberculosis patients have relatively hypersexuality. If it is not controlled, it may weaken their anti-tuberculosis ability, reduce their physical strength, and be unfavorable for treatment.

7. During anti-tuberculosis treatment, eggplant is prone to drug allergic reactions and should be avoided. 8. Rifampicin and milk cannot be taken at the same time.

Dietary principles for tuberculosis:

1. Provide sufficient high protein and sufficient heat energy. The protein intake for children should be 2.5 to 4 grams per kilogram of body weight. 100-120 kcal of heat energy (per kilogram of body weight per day) to replenish consumption.

2. Fat intake should not be too high, 1 to 2 grams per kilogram of body weight, and the combination of meat and vegetables should be appropriate. Avoid too much greasy food to avoid affecting digestion.

3. The diet should be rich in inorganic salts and vitamins. It is beneficial to the calcification of lesions and the recovery of the patient.

4. Children with hemoptysis should increase their iron intake.

5. Children with long-term low-grade fever can eat more milk, eggs, lean meat, fish, tofu, etc. to replenish the consumption of protein metabolism.

6. Provide a large amount of vitamins A, D, C and B to enhance the body's resistance.

Everyone should know more about what people with tuberculosis should not eat. If you have tuberculosis, you should seek treatment in time and cut off all sources of infection to prevent the disease from spreading to others. Patients should not worry too much and should actively go to a regular hospital for treatment and maintain a good mood. Male patients, in particular, should quit smoking and drinking.
