In our lives, many people have certain kidney diseases. The latent period of kidney disease is very long and it is difficult to be discovered by people. We can discover the disease in daily examinations. Radiation nephritis is a very common kidney disease that develops very quickly. Patients will experience shortness of breath, loss of appetite, and even heart failure in severe cases. We need to actively treat it. Let's take a look at the main symptoms of radiation nephritis. Radiation nephritis develops very quickly and the prognosis in the later stages of the disease is very poor. Patients may also suffer from anemia, hypertension, and edema when the disease occurs, which can cause great harm to the patient's body and requires us to actively treat it. What are the symptoms of radiation nephritis? 1. Acute radiation nephritis (1) Incubation period: 6 to 12 months after exposure to radiation, and shorter than 6 months in children. (2) Prodromal stage: increased blood pressure, anemia, heart enlargement, and proteinuria may be detected during examination. (3) Clinical stage: Once symptoms appear, they develop rapidly. In the early stage, there will be symptoms such as shortness of breath, headache, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting and extreme fatigue; in the later stage, there may be edema, moderate or severe hypertension, heart failure, anemia, proteinuria (mostly <2g/d, but occasionally as high as 4-5g/d), tubular urine and microscopic hematuria, and progressive azotemia. (4) Prognosis: The disease often develops rapidly and the prognosis of patients is poor. Patients often die from malignant hypertension and/or chronic renal failure, with a mortality rate as high as 50%. Survivors often develop chronic radiation nephritis. Chronic radiation nephritis (1) Latent period: It may develop from acute radiation nephritis or develop after years of radiation exposure. (2) Clinical stage: The main symptoms are anemia, hypertension, and edema; Common symptoms include proteinuria, hypoosmolar urine, anemia, hypertension and slowly progressive uremia, with salt loss being the main manifestation, and may be complicated by malignant hypertension. Retroperitoneal sclerosis can block one or both ureters and aggravate renal failure and salt loss. Radiation enteritis may also exist, and diarrhea can lead to protein and electrolyte loss. Patients may develop nephrotic syndrome and have varying degrees of renal impairment. 3. Benign hypertension : 2.5 to 5 years after exposure to radiation, hypertension is accompanied by varying degrees of proteinuria, but not renal failure, and the prognosis is generally good. The above content is an introduction to the symptoms of radiation nephritis. I hope it can be of some help to you. Any disease has certain symptoms at the beginning. What we need to do in life is to detect physical diseases in a timely manner, diagnose and treat the diseases in a timely manner. Treating the diseases as early as possible can achieve the best treatment effect. |
