Do you know these treatments for old cold legs?

With the arrival of autumn and winter, elderly friends are worried again, because when the weather gets a little colder their old ailments will recur, tormenting their nerves. The main cause of these old ailments is that the weather is cold, and the blood vessels in the legs are blocked, causing blood to not circulate. Just like oil, it will coagulate when the weather is cold, and the same is true for the blood in the human body. This requires elderly friends to exercise more and move the blood.

Many people believe that "old cold legs" are quite common and that you can just dress warmly, or go to a small clinic to get some medicine, some painkillers, or apply a plaster and you'll be fine after getting through the winter. However, lower limb arteriosclerosis obliterans is quite dangerous. If you do not go to a regular hospital for diagnosis and treatment in time, it will seriously affect the quality of life and there is a risk of amputation or even death: the 5-year mortality rate of all patients with lower limb arteriosclerosis obliterans is 10-15%, the 5-year mortality rate of patients with "intermittent claudication" is 30%, and the 5-year mortality rate of severe patients with "rest pain" and ulcers and gangrene is as high as 70%, and the 1-year amputation rate of severe patients is as high as 30%.

The condition of most patients can be effectively controlled through treatment. Some seriously ill patients require intravascular interventional treatment and surgical treatment.

Intravascular treatment is to pierce a small hole in the artery at the groin, elbow, etc. with a special puncture needle, insert a special guide wire and catheter, and under X-ray monitoring, reach the diseased blood vessel, then use a special balloon to dilate the narrowed artery, and then use a special metal stent to support the narrowed area. Intracavitary treatment is not surgery. It only leaves a needle hole on the body. The patient suffers less trauma, less pain, and recovers quickly.

The purpose of surgical intervention is to clear the narrowed area, sometimes by using autologous blood vessels or artificial blood vessels to "bridge" and re-deliver blood to the blood vessels through the newly created "bridge".

Experts remind that the majority of elderly friends must keep warm in cold weather. If they experience discomfort in their lower limbs, do not seek medical treatment randomly, but go to a regular hospital with vascular surgery as soon as possible to find out the cause.

Prevention is the basis. A healthy lifestyle and good living habits can greatly reduce the risk of lower limb arteriosclerosis and occlusion, so the doctor's advice is: quit smoking; eat a light diet low in salt, fat, and sugar, and eat more fresh vegetables, fruits, and other foods rich in vitamins; proper fitness exercises can control weight, which is equivalent to regularly doing gymnastics for blood vessels, enhancing blood vessel elasticity, and preventing aging; adjust your mood, avoid long-term mental stress and depression; pay attention to keeping warm, but do not use a hot water bottle to warm your feet or soak your feet in hot water, because some patients may have decreased skin sensation and insensitivity to heat, which may lead to burns.

It can be seen from this that in order to prevent the occurrence of these diseases, it is necessary to develop good living habits, insist on outdoor activities every day, and diet is also the main issue, not one-sided.
