How to learn Chinese medicine pulse diagnosis

How to learn Chinese medicine pulse diagnosis? Taking the pulse in Chinese medicine does not mean just placing the handle on the pulse. In addition to the correct location, there are many other things that need attention. Below are the eight steps of taking the pulse.

1. There are eight key points in Chinese medicine pulse diagnosis

The experts suggested to close the ring finger, middle thumb and ring finger of your right hand and place them on the Cunkou area behind your left wrist to feel the movement of the pulse.

The first place where you feel the pulse is in some places. Some can be felt with a light touch, while others require force to feel. This is how the floating pulse and the sinking pulse are separated.

The second point is the amplitude of the pulse rate. A strong heartbeat is a real pulse, while a weak heartbeat is a weak pulse.

The third point is the frequency of the pulse rate. For a normal person, the pulse rate should be 4 heart beats per breath. If it is less than 4 times, it is a slow pulse, and if it is more than 5 times but less than 7 times, it is a digital pulse.

The fourth point is the tension of the pulse rate. If you press it, it feels like pressing on a guitar string, strong and hard, which is a string pulse. If you feel relaxed, it is a slow pulse.

The fifth point is the uniformity of the pulse rate, whether the regularity is uniform, and whether the amplitude and size are consistent. If the regularity is uneven, there will be accelerated pulse, knotted pulse, and alternate pulse. If the amplitude and size are uneven, there will be weak pulse, scattered pulse, etc.

The sixth point is the fluency of the pulse, that is, the smoothness of the pulse. A smooth and fluent pulse is called a slippery pulse, while a rough and rough pulse is called a rough pulse.

The seventh point is the length of the pulse rate, that is, the length of the radial range of the pulsating drink that can be felt by the fingers, which is divided into long pulses and short pulses.

The eighth point is the width of the pulse, that is, the axial range of the pulsating beverage that can be felt by the fingers, which is divided into large pulses and thin pulses.

2. What is the principle of pulse diagnosis in traditional Chinese medicine?

The heart is the organ in the human body that produces pulse, so pulse diagnosis can first reflect heart diseases. For example, coronary heart disease, poor blood supply to the heart, and poor heart function can be reflected in pulse diagnosis. For example, when coronary heart disease occurs, the heart may stop beating. At this time, pulse diagnosis can detect pulse arrest.

The contraction and relaxation of blood vessels reflects the quality, quantity and speed of blood flow. Changes in the blood vessels themselves, such as arteriosclerosis, can also be reflected in pulse diagnosis.

The pulse diagnosis characteristics of knot pulse are slow pulse rate, occasional pauses and irregularity. Coronary heart disease, rheumatoid heart disease, hyperthyroidism heart disease and other diseases may cause pulse arrest.

The pulse diagnosis characteristics of string pulse are increased vascular tension and straight and long pulse ends. A stringy pulse indicates hypertension, increased frictional resistance to blood flow, and hardening of blood vessel walls.

The pulse diagnosis characteristics of the moist pulse are that the pulse is thin, superficial, and weak, that is, floating, thin, and weak. When the body suffers from gastrointestinal cold (no appetite, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, etc., insufficient intake), acute gastroenteritis, and vomiting, the blood level decreases and both Qi and blood are deficient, which is reflected in the appearance of a soft pulse in pulse diagnosis.
