Flowers are unisexual and monoecious. It often grows in ravines, forest edges and roadsides at an altitude of 450-1100 meters. It grows wild in the deep soil on hillsides and forest edges. Likes warmth and plenty of sunshine. It grows poorly in overly shady environments. It is distributed in the Yangtze River Basin and the areas to its south, as well as in Indochina and the Indian Peninsula. It has the effects of reducing swelling, dispersing nodules and removing toxins.
