Is a hard bump on my finger a plantar wart?

Is a hard bump on my finger a plantar wart?

Some people who work at high intensity for a long time may have some strange places on their limbs, such as hard bumps on their fingers, or other things on the soles of their feet, such as corns or other problems. These keratinous tissues that are different from other normal organs bring inconvenience to our lives, and this is most likely plantar warts.

Etiology and pathogenesis

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that this disease is mostly caused by disharmony of Qi and blood, loose pores, and invasion of external evil, which condenses on the skin, or because of anger that stirs up liver fire, liver hyperactivity and blood dryness, and poor nourishment of tendons and veins, which leads to stagnation of Qi and blood, coupled with pressure and friction on the soles of the feet, resulting in a rash. Modern medicine believes that plantar warts are caused by human papillomavirus (HPV). It is a type of common wart. It is caused by direct contact (also self-contact), trauma and low or defective cellular immune function are also important causes. Human papillomavirus can be directly inoculated and transmitted through small breaks in the skin, so the skin lesions are increasing. Coupled with the daily stress on the feet and the friction of shoes, the condition is aggravated and becomes more difficult to treat.

Clinical manifestations

1. May feel pain or may not have any symptoms;

2. The skin lesions are round papillary keratin hyperplasia, surrounded by a thickened keratin ring. After removing the surface stratum corneum, there is a loose keratin soft core underneath, and small black spots can be seen formed by the rupture of capillaries and the coagulation of extravasation. If it contains multiple keratinous soft cores, it is called mosaic warts.

3. It often occurs on the heel, metatarsal heads or pressure areas between the metatarsals.

diagnosis

1. Causes

Mostly caused by HPV-1, and related to pressure, friction, trauma, and excessive sweating

2. Predisposing sites

Pressure points on the heel, metatarsal heads, or between the metatarsals. It can occur anywhere on the sole of the foot, but is most common at the pressure points of the foot, especially the mid-area of the metatarsals.

3. Characteristics of rash

Small shiny papules, the size of mung beans, gradually increase to the size of soybeans or larger, with a rough surface, thorn-like, gray-yellow or dirty gray, with clear boundaries, surrounded by a thickened keratin ring. If the surface stratum corneum is removed, small black spots formed by the rupture of capillaries and the coagulation of extravasation can be seen.

4. Subjective symptoms

You may feel pain or have no symptoms.

5. Course of disease

The course of the disease is chronic and may resolve spontaneously. It is generally believed that the disease is more likely to disappear in children than in adults, while it is less likely to disappear in those with excessive sweating or metatarsal abnormalities.

6. Prognosis

It is self-limiting and resolves on its own.

7. Pathological changes

Basically the same as common warts, but the entire lesion is sunken into the dermis, the stratum corneum is thicker, and there is extensive parakeratosis. Vacuolated cells and inflammatory infiltration are more obvious.

Differential Diagnosis

It should be differentiated from corns (corns are obviously painful), calluses (waxy yellow keratin patches, slightly thickened in the center, with clear skin lines and unclear edges), etc. Hard pimples on fingers

If you find similar pathological tissue on your body, don't panic. You can go to a regular hospital for removal and treatment. The first thing we need to do is to try to avoid greasy and meaty foods in our daily diet and daily life, eat more fruits and vegetables, and keep our mentality calm, then the therapeutic effect may be more significant.
