How to preserve wolfberry?

Wolfberry has always been popular among people. Not only can it be used to make some soups and dishes, but it can also be soaked in water and drunk, which can have a good effect on nourishing the kidneys. Many people often collect some wolfberries, but because they don’t know how to preserve them, the wolfberries always become moldy or eaten by insects. So how to preserve wolfberries? Let me introduce several methods to you below!

Wolfberry contains a lot of sugar, over 40%, and is very easy to absorb moisture, become oily, moldy and insect-eaten. The color of its ingredients is also extremely unstable and easily changes color, making it a type of Chinese medicinal material that is more difficult to maintain. Ordinary storage methods make it difficult to properly preserve it and achieve the purpose of preventing moisture, moth and stuffiness.

Storage method: ① Ethanol storage method: Spray the wolfberry with ethanol and mix well, then put it in a non-toxic plastic bag, remove the air, seal it for storage, and take it out when needed. This method can not only prevent insect infestation, but also make the color bright like fresh products.

②Plastic bag vacuum preservation method: Put a small sack filled with quicklime into the plastic bag, then put the wolfberries with impurities removed into the plastic bag, seal the plastic bag, extract the air from the bag, and store it in a cool place. When using this method, you need to check at any time to prevent air leaks. In addition, the amount of lime should not be too much, and it should depend on the water content of wolfberries and other conditions.

③Refrigeration method: Store wolfberry in a refrigerator or other refrigeration equipment at 0~4℃. This is a simple and practical storage method.

④Mold treatment method: Place the moldy wolfberries in a round dustpan, rub the lumps together with both hands, discard the severely deteriorated ones, spray a proper amount of white wine, moisten the white spots on the surface, rub off the spots with both hands, repeat several times until there are no spots left. Then bake it dry over a low fire, and rub and turn it lightly with your hands frequently to release the moisture. Remove it from the pot, sieve it, and then seal it for storage.

The above are some methods for preserving wolfberries. You can use the vacuum preservation method or the refrigeration method. You can also perform some mold treatments. It should be noted that when wolfberries become moldy, it is best not to eat them. During the storage process of wolfberries, you must check them at any time and deal with them in time if any problems are found.
