Mole crickets are insects belonging to the order Orthoptera and family Molecrickets, commonly known as mole crickets, earth dog crickets, etc. Not completely perverted. The antennae of the mole cricket are shorter than its body length, and its forelegs are broad and strong, suitable for digging. They are burrowing feet. The end of the foreleg tibia is palm-shaped, with 4 teeth and 3 tarsal segments. There is a slit-shaped auditory organ on the inner side of the base of the tibia of the foreleg. The mid-foot is unchanged and the hind feet are in normal walking position, and the hind feet are underdeveloped. The wings are short, and the hind wings are membranous, fan-shaped, broad and soft. The tail is long. The female insect's ovipositor is not exposed. It digs holes in the soil to lay eggs. The number of eggs can reach 200 to 400. After laying eggs, the female insect has the habit of protecting the eggs. Newly hatched nymphs are raised by the mother insect and only leave the mother insect after reaching one instar.

Medicinal value

The medicinal part of mole cricket is the dried adult of mole cricket. Larger nymphs can also be used as medicine. After the insects are collected or trapped, they should be killed with boiling water as soon as possible, dried in the sun or in an oven for later use, but they should be prevented from mold and insect infestation. There are also records of burying living insects in lime and drying them for later use. Mole crickets have diuretic, anti-edema and detoxification functions. Taking 5 to 10 grams internally can eliminate edema, act as a diuretic, treat stranguria and bruises; it can treat abscesses, sores and other diseases. During animal testing, it was found that the insect was slightly toxic, but no obvious

diuretic effect.
