Why is the belly not visible at 5 months of pregnancy

As a woman's pregnancy progresses, her body begins to become heavier and her belly grows bigger day by day. By five months, the baby's limbs in the belly are basically fully developed, and expectant fathers can lean over the expectant mother's belly to hear the fetal movements. The belly is showing, and the expectant mother is becoming more and more pregnant. However, some pregnant women’s belly is not noticeable even after five months of pregnancy. What is the reason?

Generally speaking, the first child will not be born until about five months after conception. Because each woman's uterus can be tilted forward or backward, and pregnant women are of different heights, weights, and thinness, the belly size will not look the same in the same month of pregnancy. The size of the fetus is assessed by the doctor based on the height of the uterus, abdominal circumference, and abdomen. Whether the pregnancy belly is visible is directly related to the position of the placenta, the amount of abdominal fat, and the body shape of the pregnant mother. There is actually no problem with a subtle belly. You just need to pay attention to pregnancy checkups, especially when you are five months pregnant, when you can have an ultrasound to check for fetal abnormalities. If the ultrasound shows that there is no problem with the fetal development, then there is no problem.

The reason why the pregnant mother’s pregnancy is not obvious is probably because of the posterior occipital position, which is also called back pregnancy. The occiput anterior position (front pregnancy) is when the fetus is head down and facing the mother, which is a normal fetal position. The occiput posterior position (posterior pregnancy) is when the fetus is head down with the back of its head facing the mother. It usually will not be born prematurely but is prone to difficult labor. Usually, if the fetal malposition is discovered before 7 months of pregnancy, it only requires closer observation. Because before 30 weeks of pregnancy, the fetus is still small relative to the uterus, and there is more amniotic fluid in the mother's uterus, the fetus has room to move and will correct its position on its own. After 30 weeks of pregnancy, most of them can naturally turn to "head position". However, generally speaking, if the fetal position is still abnormal at 30-34 weeks of pregnancy, it needs to be corrected.

Of course, the fetus is generally not very big at five months of pregnancy, and the belly is not very obvious at this time. In addition, if the pregnant woman is thin, the belly may not be obvious. If the fetus is normal in size during the prenatal check-up, there is no need to worry too much. The more obvious the belly is, the better. As long as the fetus develops normally and the pregnant mother has regular prenatal check-ups, there will be no problem.

Some pregnant women are so thin that their pregnancy is not noticeable. Some pregnant women who are in their seventh month of pregnancy are not even allowed to sit on the bus because their pregnancy is not very noticeable. For some people it is not very obvious. At five months of pregnancy, the fundus of the uterus is at the same level as the navel or slightly below. For thinner people, the enlarged abdomen may appear more obvious, but for taller people, it may not be obvious. It is recommended that you have an ultrasound examination to understand the condition of the fetus. If the ultrasound examination is normal, you can rest assured.
