How to boil Chinese medicine for external use

Patients with some diseases need to use traditional Chinese medicine for treatment, and it should be external treatment. There are many issues that should be paid attention to, for example, after taking the Chinese medicine back, you need to boil it yourself. However, there are many things to pay attention to when boiling Chinese medicine, so you should pay special attention to it. We can understand many different problems when using external Chinese medicine, so how do we boil external Chinese medicine?

First of all, since everyone's physique is different, the types of Chinese medicine needed to make plasters are also different. We can go to the pharmacy to consult a Chinese medicine doctor, who will write out a prescription and prepare the Chinese medicine for us, and then we can buy it. When you get home, prepare a container with a lid, pour all the medicine into it and stir evenly. Then fill with cold water and soak for a day. The water should be 15 cm higher than the medicine.

Secondly, add water and Chinese medicine to the pot, bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce to low heat and, after turning off the heat, filter out the residue and juice. The medicinal residue needs to be boiled with water three times. The medicinal juices boiled three times are combined together, left to stand for a day, and then filtered three times with gauze to obtain the purest medicinal juice possible.

Again, continue to cook the filtered medicinal liquid in the pot, stirring with chopsticks while cooking to prevent it from burning, until the medicinal liquid becomes thick.

Then, you can add deer antler glue, donkey-hide gelatin, rock sugar, sesame seeds, etc. according to personal preference, and simmer over low heat while stirring until it becomes a paste.

Finally, put the paste into a ceramic container. Do not use a metal container because the metal will react chemically with the paste. After packaging, it can be stored in the refrigerator to prevent the paste from being heated and deteriorating. It should be placed in a dry and cool place.

After the paste is made, you also need to pay attention to how to use it. When muscles or ligaments are sprained and swollen and painful, you should not use plasters immediately as they will not help reduce swelling. It is also not advisable to use plasters when there is a wound on the affected area, as it may cause the wound to fester. Some plasters are used to promote blood circulation and remove blood stasis, but they are prohibited for use by pregnant women. If the affected area has adverse reactions after using the plaster, it is considered an allergy and the plaster should be removed immediately and the patient should go to the hospital for examination and treatment. Knowing the correct usage method can save us a lot of trouble and the disease can be treated more effectively.
