Medicinal value of realgar

Detoxify, kill insects, dry dampness and eliminate phlegm, and stop malaria. Used for carbuncles, furuncles, snake and insect bites, abdominal pain caused by worm accumulation, epilepsy, and malaria.

1. To treat scabies and ringworms: take equal parts of realgar and Cnidium monnieri, grind them into powder, and reduce the amount of mercury by half. Mix it with lard and mash it evenly, then add mercury and grind it again until no stars are visible. Wash with soup and apply medicine in the morning and evening. (Jiang Yuefeng's Family Recipe)

4. To treat gallbladder disease, foul-smelling rot and bleeding: take seven grains of realgar beans. Each grain is wrapped with a pitted Huai jujube, strung with iron wire over a lamp and burned into powder. Mix a little bit each time, remove the saliva, and stop when the condition is cured. 5. To treat snakebite: grind realgar into powder, mix with vinegar, and take with wine. It can be used for all bites caused by snakes, bees, scorpions, centipedes, poisonous insects, and stray dogs. (The Effective Prescriptions of Worldly Doctors)

6. To treat tetanus: one qian of realgar, two qian of siler, and one qian of aconite. Grind the above ingredients into fine powder, take one dose at a time, and mix with warm wine. If the internal organs are in harmony, you can take the medicine; if the internal organs are not in harmony, you cannot take the medicine.
