Spleen deficiency diet therapy is effective, three foods are worth choosing

For people with spleen deficiency, if they want to improve the symptoms of spleen deficiency, they can use diet therapy. So, what foods can people with spleen deficiency eat to replenish the spleen?

1. Snails

It is cold in nature and tastes sweet and salty. Because of its extremely cold nature, the Suixiju Dietary Guide clearly warns: "Eating too much cold food is not recommended for people with spleen deficiency."

Clam meat is cold in nature, sweet and salty in taste, and can nourish yin and clear away heat. However, people with spleen deficiency should not eat too much of it, as it can easily damage the yang energy of the spleen and stomach. Therefore, Wang Mengying, a food doctor in the Qing Dynasty, warned in his "Sui Xi Ju Diet": "Clams are sweet, salty and cold. Eating too much of them will cause coldness, and those with spleen deficiency and loose stools should avoid it."

2. Wolfberry

It is mild in nature and sweet in taste. But ancient doctors also believed that wolfberry is cold in nature. As described in Bielu, it is "slightly cold". "Compendium of Materia Medica for Food Therapy" believes that it is "cold and non-toxic". "Bencao Qiuzhen" also said: "Wolfberry, sweet and cold in nature." Because of this, people with weak spleen and stomach, or those with loose stools due to spleen and stomach deficiency, should avoid it, just as "Bencao Jingshu" warned: "People with weak spleen and stomach, and those who have diarrhea from time to time should not eat it.

3. Hawthorn

It is also called Tangzhu and Shanlihong. It can stimulate appetite and help digestion, but it has the disadvantage of damaging the spleen and stomach. For example, it was said in Compendium of Materia Medica: "For those with weak spleen, indigestion, chest and abdominal soreness and stuffiness, it is best to chew two or three hawthorns after each meal, but do not eat too much, otherwise it may weaken the spleen and stomach." "Compendium of Materia Medica" also pointed out: "For those with spleen and stomach deficiency and stagnation, it should be used together with tonic medicine, but it should not be overused." Yuan Dynasty Zhu Danxi also believed: "For those with no food accumulation in the stomach, spleen deficiency and inability to digest food, and no appetite, taking too much hawthorn will weaken the spleen and stomach's vitality." Therefore, people with spleen deficiency should not eat it, and should avoid eating too much of it frequently.
