What are the symptoms of genital herpes in men?

Male genital herpes is a very harmful infectious disease that can be transmitted through sexual intercourse, especially unclean sexual intercourse. The characteristic of this disease is its long latent period. So what are the symptoms of male vulvar genital herpes?

What are the symptoms of genital herpes in men?

1. Early symptoms of genital herpes: There is a burning sensation in the affected area of the vulva first, followed by the development of papules in groups, which may be one or more clusters, followed by the formation of blisters. After a few days, it develops into a pustule, which then breaks to form an erosion or shallow ulcer, causing pain. It eventually scabs and heals on its own. The course of the disease is about 2 to 3 weeks. Skin lesions often occur on the foreskin, glans, coronal sulcus and penis of men.

2. Primary symptoms of genital herpes: The incubation period is 2 to 10 days, with an average of 6 days. The affected areas in men are the foreskin, glans, coronal sulcus, and penis. It can occasionally be seen in the urethra, prostate and seminal vesicles, and in homosexuals it can occur in the anus and rectum. Symptoms of primary genital herpes infection are often accompanied by general discomfort, low fever, headache and other systemic symptoms, and local lymph node enlargement.

3. Recurrent symptoms of genital herpes: often occur within 1 to 3 months after primary genital herpes. The recurrence rate and frequency of attacks caused by HSV-2 infection are also higher. About 60% of patients relapse within one year after the first infection, with 4 to 6 attacks in the first year, and some relapse more than 10 times. Recurrent genital herpes may be accompanied by sacral radiculopathy: symptoms include pain or paresthesia in the buttocks or thighs, urinary retention, and erectile dysfunction.

How genital herpes is transmitted in men

1. Transmission through objects: The best doctor for genital herpes treatment says that since infectious viruses can survive for several hours in a humid environment, herpes simplex virus can also be transmitted indirectly through fomites.

2. Sexual contact transmission: Transmission through sexual contact with patients with genital herpes accounts for more than 90%. This includes sexual intercourse, passionate kissing, and hugging with skin-to-skin contact. The skin and mucous membranes in the genital area are thin and rich in blood vessels. They are in a state of extreme congestion during sexual intercourse. Friction during sexual intercourse can cause minor injuries, creating conditions for the invasion of genital herpes virus. This is the transmission route of genital herpes.

3. Blood-borne transmission: Some patients with genital herpes in the incubation period are infected with the herpes virus but may have no clinical symptoms. Healthy people or patients with various other diseases who receive blood or blood products provided by them may be infected with genital herpes. This is the transmission route of genital herpes.

4. Placental transmission: Pregnant women with genital herpes can transmit genital herpes to the fetus through the placenta. If a pregnant woman has genital herpes and it is not discovered and treated in time, or the treatment is incomplete, the genital herpes virus can be transmitted to the fetus through the blood circulation of the placenta, causing the fetus to be infected with genital herpes.
