Treatment principle: Clear away heat and phlegm, calm the mind and stabilize the spirit. Main prescription: Huanglian Wendan Decoction with modifications.

5. Qi stagnation and blood stasis

Symptoms: palpitations, chest tightness, stabbing pains in the heart and chest, or bluish lips and nails, dark purple tongue or ecchymosis, and sluggish or intermittent pulse. Treatment principle: Promote blood circulation, remove blood stasis and soothe the mind. Main recipe: Peach kernel and safflower decoction with modifications.

Causes

The internal causes are weakness of the body and insufficient vital energy, while the external causes are exposure to the six evils, overeating, fatigue, phlegm blocking the lungs, deficiency of heart qi, deficiency of heart and kidney yang, and deficiency of both qi and yin, which can all lead to this disease. The disease is mainly located in the heart and is closely related to the lungs and kidneys. When the disease is serious, all five internal organs will be damaged.
