The best treatment for acute laryngitis is to rest your vocal cords

If you have symptoms such as hoarseness, sore throat, cough and phlegm, you may have an attack of acute laryngitis. Acute laryngitis requires increased outdoor activities, physical fitness, and improved disease resistance. At the same time, you also need to pay attention to vocal cord rest.

1. Causes of acute laryngitis

1: Infection is generally believed to occur after a cold, with viral invasion first and secondary bacterial infection. Common bacteria include influenza B, Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, Pneumococcus, Neisseria catarrhalis, etc.

2: Occupational factors: Excessive inhalation of industrial dust and harmful gases (such as chlorine, ammonia, sulfuric acid, nitric acid, poison gas, smoke, etc.) can also cause acute inflammation of the laryngeal mucosa. Teachers, actors, ticket sellers, etc. who use their voice a lot have a higher incidence of acute vocal cord inflammation if they use their voice improperly or overuse their vocal cords.

3: Traumatic foreign bodies, examination instruments, and other manipulations of the laryngeal mucosa may also lead to acute laryngitis.

4: This disease is easily induced when the body's resistance is reduced due to excessive smoking and drinking, cold, and fatigue.

II. Treatment

1: The most important thing is to rest the vocal cords. Avoid whispering instead of pronunciation, because whispering still cannot achieve pronunciation rest. Silence is an effective treatment measure.

2: Use antibiotics to control the spread of infection. If the vocal cords are significantly swollen, add steroid hormones.

3: For steam inhalation therapy, use a cup of hot water and a dry towel. Place the dry towel between your mouth, nose and the mouth of the cup, and breathe slowly with your mouth open. Mint, compound benzoin tincture and other medicines can be placed in the cup. The temperature of the steam should not be too high to prevent burns. After treatment, take a short rest before going out to avoid being startled.

3. Acute laryngitis is often secondary to upper respiratory tract infection.

It can be a descending infection of acute rhinitis or acute pharyngitis, so there are often inflammatory symptoms of the nose and pharynx. Symptoms include fever, chills, and general discomfort.
