What should I do if I have chronic nephritis? Pay attention to dietary conditioning

The kidney is a very important organ in our human body because it is important for regulating physiological balance and maintaining the normal operation of various body functions. Chronic nephritis is a kidney disease that is relatively difficult to cure. In addition to actively seeking treatment, people should also pay attention to dietary conditioning.

1: Medicinal diet for treating chronic nephritis

1: Chicken stewed with Angelica and Astragalus [Ingredients] 1 hen (about 1000 grams), 15 grams of Angelica sinensis, 30 grams of Astragalus, and appropriate amount of seasoning. [Preparation] Remove the hair and internal organs of the chicken, wash it, put the angelica and astragalus into the chicken's belly, add water and seasonings, and stew until the chicken is cooked through. [Features] Chicken is a common food for replenishing qi and blood, and tonifying deficiency. It is combined with astragalus for replenishing qi and angelica for replenishing blood and activating blood circulation to enhance the effect of nourishing blood and replenishing qi. This product is more suitable for patients with protracted illness, loss of essence and blood, low plasma protein, and low blood urea nitrogen.

2: Five-flavor porridge [Ingredients] 30 grams of yam, 30 grams of raw coix seeds, 30 grams of mulberries, 10 dates, and 60 grams of corn (millet). [Preparation method] Wash the above five ingredients, add water and cook into porridge, and eat in 2 to 3 times. [Features] Yam replenishes Qi, nourishes the lungs, spleen and kidneys; jujube replenishes Qi and strengthens the spleen; mulberry nourishes Yin, clears heat, and replenishes the liver and kidneys; millet enters the spleen and kidney meridians, and can nourish the spleen and kidneys; coix seed strengthens the spleen and eliminates dampness, and has a diuretic effect. The five flavors work together and regular consumption can achieve the effect of replenishing qi and nourishing yin.

3: Winter melon and carp soup [Ingredients] 500 grams of winter melon, 250 grams of carp, 9 grams of Amomum villosum, 9 grams of Psoralea corylifolia, and a little salt. [Preparation method] Remove the intestines of the carp, wrap the Amomum villosum and Psoralea corylifolia in a gauze bag and stuff it into the fish belly. Wash and cut the winter melon into pieces, put them into the pot together with the carp, add salt and water to cook the soup. [Features] Carp is mild in nature, sweet in taste, enters the spleen and kidney meridians, and can promote diuresis and reduce swelling; winter melon helps carp to enhance the diuretic effect; while Psoralea corylifolia is warm in nature, spicy in taste, and has the effect of tonifying the kidney and strengthening yang; Amomum villosum is spicy and warm, and can eliminate dampness and promote qi, warm the middle and stop diarrhea. When used together, they can warm and nourish the spleen and kidneys, promote yang and promote diuresis, and are especially suitable for those with severe edema.

2: Dietary considerations for chronic kidney disease

1: People with nephritis should avoid eating strong condiments such as mustard, coffee, and chili peppers as they are harmful to kidney function. Since MSG will make you thirsty after eating too much, you should also use less MSG when limiting your water intake.

2: People with nephritis should limit high-fat foods. Nephritis patients have symptoms of hypertension and anemia. Animal fat is an unfavorable factor for hypertension and anemia because fat can aggravate arteriosclerosis and inhibit hematopoietic function. Therefore, nephritis patients should not consume too much animal fat. However, if there is no fat intake in patients with nephritis, the body will become weaker, so in daily life, vegetable oil can be used instead, about 60 grams per day.

3: People with nephritis should limit foods that are high in purine and nitrogen. In order to reduce the burden on the kidneys, they should limit foods that stimulate kidney cells, such as spinach, celery, radishes, beans, soy products, sardines, chicken soup, fish soup, broth, etc. Because those foods are high in purine and nitrogen, when renal function is poor, their metabolites cannot be excreted in time, which has a negative impact on renal function.

4: Limit plant protein for nephritis: Protein intake should depend on the condition of kidney function. When patients experience oliguria, edema, hypertension and nitrogen retention, daily protein intake should be controlled within 20-40 grams to reduce the burden on the kidneys and avoid the accumulation of non-protein nitrogen in the body. In particular, plant protein contains a large amount of leuprorelin, which can increase the kidney's intermediate metabolism. Therefore, it is not suitable to use beans and bean products as nutritional supplements. Beans and soy products include soybeans, mung beans, broad beans, soy milk, tofu, etc.

5: Limit fluid intake for nephritis. Patients with nephritis, hypertension and edema should limit fluid intake. The daily intake should be controlled within 1200-1500 ml, including 800 ml of water in beverages and dishes. If edema is severe, the amount of water intake must be strictly controlled. In the case of urination, it can be relaxed appropriately. A reasonable and scientific diet is the basic guarantee for life activities.

6: People with nephritis cannot eat a high-salt diet. The edema caused by nephritis is closely related to blood volume and sodium salt. Every gram of salt can bring in about 110 milliliters of water. If patients with nephritis consume too much salt and their urination function is impaired, the symptoms of edema will often worsen, the blood volume will increase, and heart failure will occur. Therefore, salt intake must be restricted and a low-salt diet must be given. Daily salt intake should be controlled below 2-4 grams to prevent worsening of edema and increase in blood volume, which may lead to accidents.

3. The treatment process of chronic nephritis is very slow

What is more important is the prevention and health care in life. It is important for everyone to learn the precautions of these factors.
