The white discharge from the female vagina is mainly due to the mixture of vaginal mucosal exudates and endometrial glands. This situation mainly occurs during menstruation, which is related to the secretion of female hormones by female friends, that is, leucorrhea. Women's vaginal discharge is a mixture of vaginal mucosal exudate, cervical canal and endometrial gland secretions, which is related to the action of estrogen. Usually the quality and quantity of leucorrhea varies with the menstrual cycle. After the menstruation is over, the leucorrhea is less in amount, white in color and paste-like. In the middle of the menstrual period, the ovaries are about to ovulate. Due to the vigorous secretion of the cervical glands, the leucorrhea increases and becomes transparent, slightly sticky, and egg white-like. After 2 to 3 days of ovulation, the leucorrhea becomes turbid, thick and sticky but in small amounts. Before and after menstruation, due to pelvic congestion, vaginal mucosal exudate increases and leucorrhea often increases.

1. Physiological leucorrhea

Leucorrhea is a kind of viscous, non-fishy odor, small amount of leucorrhea, which is physiological leucorrhea. Due to the action of the pelvic floor muscles, the female vaginal muscles are closed and the front and back walls fit tightly together. The female vagina is in a moist state, and the water in the leucorrhea can reduce the friction between the front and back walls of the vagina and protect the vaginal walls from damage. At the same time, this moist state makes women's vagina soft and elastic, helping to improve the quality of sexual life.

2. Pathological leucorrhea

In cases of reproductive tract inflammation such as vaginitis, acute cervicitis or cancer, the amount of leucorrhea increases significantly and the properties change, which is called pathological leucorrhea.

Abnormal behavior

1. Cheese-like leucorrhea or tofu-like leucorrhea is a type of candidal vaginitis, often accompanied by severe vulvar itching or burning pain.

2. Thin, purulent, yellow-green, foamy, foul-smelling leucorrhea is characteristic of Trichomonas vaginitis and is accompanied by vulvar itching.

3. Grayish white, thin, fishy odor leucorrhea is a characteristic of vaginitis, accompanied by mild itching of the vulva.

4. Purulent leucorrhea: yellow or yellow-green, sticky, and often has a foul odor, caused by bacterial infection. It may be caused by diseases such as Neisseria gonorrhoeae vaginitis, acute cervicitis, endocervicitis, vaginal cancer or cervical cancer. Purulent leucorrhea in women may also be caused by pyometra or foreign objects remaining in the vagina.

6. Watery leucorrhea: Vaginal discharge is relatively thin, has a fishy smell, and is also rice-like. This may be due to advanced cervical cancer, vaginal cancer, or submucosal fibroids with infection. Intermittent discharge of clear and turbid, watery leucorrhea that is yellow or red should indicate fallopian tube cancer.

7. Bloody leucorrhea: If the leucorrhea is mixed with blood and the amount of blood is inconsistent, you need to consider diseases such as cervical cancer, endometrial cancer, cervical polyps, cervical columnar epithelium ectopia with infection, and uterine submucosal fibroids.
