What do big triple positive and small triple positive specifically mean? Did you know?

The Hepatitis B Two-Pair Half Test is a must-have item for routine physical examinations and hospitalization examinations. The most frightening test results are "big goat (big three positive)" and "small goat (small three positive)". What do big three positive and small three positive specifically mean?

What is the significance of these inspection indicators?

1. Hepatitis B surface antigen is the basis for determining whether you are infected with hepatitis B virus. A positive HBsAg test indicates infection with the HBV.

2. Hepatitis B surface antibody is the basis for determining whether the body has specific immunity. A positive hepatitis B surface antibody test indicates protective immunity against hepatitis B virus infection. A single positive result usually occurs after vaccination with the hepatitis B vaccine or recovery from hepatitis B virus infection.

3. Hepatitis B e antigen can be used as a preliminary basis for judging the infectiousness of hepatitis B virus. A positive hepatitis B e antigen indicates high infectiousness.

4. Hepatitis B e antibody can be used as a preliminary basis for judging the infectiousness of hepatitis B virus. A positive hepatitis B e antibody test indicates that the virus replication is reduced and the infectiousness is weak, but it cannot be concluded that the virus is not infectious.

5. Hepatitis B core antibody A positive hepatitis B core antibody indicates a past infection with the hepatitis B virus. It may also occur in people who have been vaccinated against hepatitis B or who are latently infected.

So what does "big goat" mean?

That is, hepatitis B surface antigen, e antigen and core antibody are all positive. This is the classic and normative mode of complete existence of the HBV, during which the HBV actively replicates in the body and is highly contagious.

What is a "little goat"?

That is, the hepatitis B surface antigen, e antibody, and core antibody are all positive at the same time. This is the form of the hepatitis B virus after the "big three positives" have transformed. In the past, it has been believed that the hepatitis B virus "small three positives" indicates that the patient's infectiousness has been significantly or relatively reduced, and the degree of viral replication has been reduced or significantly alleviated. It now seems that this is a completely wrong idea, because the five hepatitis B tests only reflect the status of the body's hepatitis B immune markers, and do not represent the severity of the disease or the degree of infectiousness.
