Tumor in waist

Tumor in waist

We have all heard of tumors in the organs of the brain, but we have never heard of tumors in the lumbar spine. In fact, most tumors in the waist are probably lipomas. Lipomas will turn into benign tumors during the proliferation process. Lipomas do not require treatment if they are not serious, but they will affect activities. If you engage in intense activities, the tumor may suddenly grow larger or break. Therefore, patients must pay attention to regular examinations of tumors in the waist, make reasonable diagnoses, and actively choose appropriate methods of diagnosis and treatment.

Most tumors in the waist are benign, so you don't need to worry too much, but surgery should be performed in a timely manner.

A large lump found on the waist may be a lipoma, which is a benign tumor formed by the proliferation of mature adipose tissue. Lipomas rarely become cancerous and generally do not require treatment. If the tumor is large and affects movement, or if it suddenly grows larger or ruptures in the near future, it should be removed surgically. It is okay if you do not want to undergo surgery for the time being, but you need to be very careful. If the tumor becomes larger later, it will need to be removed surgically as soon as possible.

Is a tumor on the waist cancer?

We all know that cancer is a disease caused by the malignant proliferation of cells. It has a very high incidence rate and is very harmful. However, tumors can be divided into benign tumors and malignant tumors, and a tumor on the waist is not necessarily a malignant tumor, so this situation may not necessarily be cancer.

However, to be on the safe side, when patients find a tumor on their waist, they should go to the hospital for a comprehensive examination in time to determine the cause as soon as possible, and then take appropriate measures for treatment to avoid delaying the disease. Otherwise, once the best treatment time is missed, it will cause very serious consequences.

How to treat a tumor on the waist?

If after examination it is found that the tumor on the waist is a malignant tumor, then we must perform surgery in time to remove the diseased tissue, and also actively carry out chemotherapy and radiotherapy to prevent the spread and metastasis of tumor cells. And in daily life, we must also follow the doctor's instructions and actively cooperate with the doctor for follow-up treatment, so as to get the best treatment effect.

However, if it is a benign tumor, then there is no need to worry too much. We can take appropriate treatment methods according to the specific condition. If the tumor has seriously affected your daily work and life and has compressed other tissues or organs, we can treat it surgically. However, if the tumor does not affect your life and the symptoms are not obvious, you can observe and follow up without treatment.

Despite this, we cannot rule out that a very small number of cases are malignant tumors with the risk of spreading. The most likely possibility is multiple myeloma. Foreign literature reports that multiple myeloma is a common tumor in adults or the elderly. It is not common in China, but there is an increasing trend. Myeloma originates from plasma cells in the bone marrow, first invading the red bone marrow, causing widespread osteoporosis and bone destruction, and may later invade the liver, spleen, kidneys, lymph nodes and lungs.

In the bone marrow, the tumor is common in the spine, ribs, pelvis, and head. Long bones may also be affected (mainly the proximal end of the humerus and femur), and are more common in the lower thoracic and lumbar vertebrae of the spine. Immunoglobulin measurement aids in diagnosis (typically hyperglobulinemia). The diagnosis is confirmed by bone marrow biopsy.
