The most basic normal values of the human body: pulse, respiration, body temperature, blood pressure

In life, everyone has a different physique, so some physiological characteristics will be a little different, such as heartbeat, some people have fast heartbeat and some have slow heartbeat, but no matter what, there will be a standard value? Let’s take a look at the various indicators of the body!

pulse:

The normal pulse rate for adults is 60 to 100 beats/minute, slightly faster for women; the average pulse rate for children is 90 beats/minute, and for infants and young children can reach 130 beats/minute; the pulse rate for the elderly is slower, at 55 to 60 beats/minute.

The speed of the pulse is affected by factors such as age, gender, exercise and mood.

breathe:

The normal breathing rate of an adult in a quiet state is 16 to 20 times per minute, which gradually slows down with age.

A respiratory rate of more than 24 times/minute is called tachypnea (seen in fever, pain, anemia, hyperthyroidism and heart failure, etc.); a respiratory rate of less than 12 times/minute is called bradypnea (seen in intracranial hypertension, overdose of anesthetics, etc.).

body temperature:

The normal armpit temperature for adults is 36℃~37℃, slightly lower in the morning and slightly higher in the afternoon, and fluctuates no more than 1℃ within 24 hours; the temperature of the elderly is slightly lower, and the temperature of women before menstruation or during pregnancy is slightly higher; the temperature is slightly higher after exercise or eating.

A body temperature higher than the normal range is called fever (seen in infection, trauma, malignant tumors, cerebrovascular accident and various intracavitary bleeding, etc.); a body temperature lower than the normal range is called hypothermia (seen in shock, hypothyroidism, severe malnutrition and prolonged exposure to low temperature conditions, etc.).

blood pressure:

Normal blood pressure for adults is between 90 and 119 mmHg systolic pressure or 60 and 79 mmHg diastolic pressure.

When an adult's systolic blood pressure reaches 120-139 mmHg or diastolic blood pressure reaches 80-89 mmHg, it is considered high normal blood pressure and the person should consult a doctor. Many factors such as emotional excitement, tension, and exercise can affect blood pressure. Diagnosis and treatment of hypertension must be performed by a doctor.

Hypotension is defined as systolic blood pressure < 90 mmHg or diastolic blood pressure < 60 mmHg. Primary hypotension is also called constitutional hypotension (related to poor physical condition). Secondary hypotension is one of the clinical manifestations of certain diseases (such as shock, cardiovascular disease, adrenal cortex function and anterior pituitary function impairment, etc.).
