Who is prone to pneumothorax and what is pneumothorax?

The occurrence of pneumothorax can cause great harm to the patient's body. If not sought medical treatment in time, it may affect the patient's life. However, we don't know much about this disease in our lives. So who is prone to pneumothorax?

Who is prone to pneumothorax?

Clinical experience shows that pneumothorax not only affects boys more than girls, but also favors tall and thin boys, for example (Xiao Lu is 183cm tall and weighs 65kg). Because they all have flat chests, once they suddenly do strenuous exercise, the pressure in the alveoli increases suddenly. Coupled with the original lesions at the apex of the lung, it is more likely to cause the alveoli to rupture and enter the chest cavity.

What exactly is pneumothorax?

Pneumothorax refers to the accumulation of gas in the pleural cavity, which is usually divided into three categories: spontaneous pneumothorax, traumatic pneumothorax, and artificial pneumothorax.

Spontaneous pneumothorax is caused by rupture of lung tissue and visceral pleura due to lung disease, or by rupture of tiny air bubbles and bullae near the surface of the lung, causing air in the lungs and bronchi to enter the pleural cavity.

How to prevent pneumothorax?

1. Actively treat primary lung diseases, such as lung infection, tuberculosis, lung abscess, emphysema, etc.

2. Prevent lung infection and control cough.

3. Exercise and improve your physical fitness.

4. Patients with bullae should avoid strenuous exercise and weight bearing.
