What are the precautions for scraping and cupping?

Gua Sha and cupping therapy is one of the traditional Chinese medical heritages. Cupping therapy is also known as "cupping gas" and "suction cup therapy" and was called "horn method" in ancient times. This is a therapy that uses cups as tools to expel the air inside through heat, creating negative pressure, which is then absorbed by the skin, causing congestion.

Precautions

① When cupping, you should choose an appropriate body position and a part with plump muscles. If the body position is not correct, movement is not smooth, the bones are uneven, and the hairy parts are not smooth.

Applicable.

② When cupping, choose a cup of appropriate size according to the area to be cupped. The operation must be quick to ensure that the can is pulled tight and adsorbed effectively.

③ When using cupping, be careful not to burn or scald the skin. If blisters form on the skin due to burns or the cupping is left on for too long, small blisters do not need to be treated. Just apply a sterile gauze to prevent abrasions. When the blisters are large, use a sterilized needle to drain the water, apply gentian violet solution, or wrap them with sterilized gauze to prevent infection.

④ Cupping is not suitable for areas with skin allergies, ulcers, edema, and large blood vessels. Cupping is also not suitable for people with high fever and convulsions, as well as pregnant women's abdomen and lumbar sacral area.

Blisters

The essence of cupping blisters is "water filling" under the skin. The pathological products of phlegm, fluid, moisture, and other products in the body, as well as water, pass through the subcutaneous tissue under the action of negative pressure, enter and stay in the skin, thus forming blisters.

Treatment method: Small blisters do not need to be treated, just prevent infection and let them heal naturally;

If the blisters are large, you need to puncture them with a sterilized needle, apply anti-inflammatory drugs, prevent infection, and pay attention to hygiene, and they will heal after a while;

If the blisters are too large or numerous, it is recommended that you go to the hospital to see a doctor.

Cupping color

1. The cupping marks are dark purple and black: generally indicating insufficient blood supply, menstrual irregularities and blood stasis.

2. The cupping marks are purple and accompanied by plaques: generally indicating cold blood stasis.

3. The cupping marks are scattered purple dots with the same depth, indicating qi stagnation and blood stasis.

4. The cupping mark is bright red and vivid: it generally indicates Yin deficiency, Qi and blood deficiency or Yin deficiency and hyperactivity of fire.

5. The cupping mark is dark red: it indicates high blood lipids and heat evil.

6. The cupping mark is grayish white and not warm to the touch, which is mostly caused by deficiency of cold or dampness.

7. There are skin wrinkles or slight itching on the surface of the cupping mark: it indicates wind-cold or dampness.

8. There is water vapor on the inner wall of the tank: It means there is moisture in that part.

9. The appearance of blisters on the cupping marks indicates that there is a lot of moisture in the body. If there is blood in the blisters, it is a reaction to damp-heat toxins.

Cupping device

The Haoqingsong cupping device consists of a vacuum cup, a vacuum gun with a closed piston and a connecting hose (see the picture on the right).

Scope of application: Haoqingsong cupping device has the therapeutic effects of activating qi and blood, dispelling cold evil, relieving pain and swelling. It is suitable for diseases such as periarthritis of the shoulder, cervical spondylosis, rheumatoid arthritis, neuralgia, low back pain, trigeminal neuralgia, sciatica, etc. It is very helpful for body beauty such as breast enhancement and weight loss.

How to use: Select a cup of appropriate size and a comfortable body position, lift the piston on the top of the selected cup to ensure ventilation, gently cover the vacuum gun muzzle on the piston on the top of the cup, and quickly lift the rod vertically for several times until the skin at the cupping site bulges and the patient can tolerate it. After the cup is adsorbed on the body surface, gently rotate the negative pressure gun muzzle left and right and move it back, and lightly press the cup piston to prevent air leakage; at the end of the treatment, just lift the piston on the top of the cup. Each treatment lasts 10 minutes. Connectors can be used on areas where a single person cannot directly cupping (such as the spine and waist).

1. Do not take a shower or drink cold drinks within two hours after scraping and cupping. Use hot water to shower two hours later.

2. Do not turn on the air conditioner or fan during scraping and cupping to avoid air convection.

3. Do not scrape when you are too full, too hungry or too thirsty. Scraping and cupping should be done one hour after a meal.
