What causes back pain?

Some white-collar workers who work in front of computers for a long time often feel back pain. In addition, carrying heavy bags frequently, wearing high heels or flip-flops for a long time, and being easily angry may also cause back pain. What are the causes of your back pain?

1. Sleep on an old mattress . The service life of a high-quality mattress is usually 8 to 10 years. Once it is more than 10 years old, an old mattress can hardly provide the necessary support for the spine. The new mattress should not be too hard or too soft, otherwise it will easily lead to insufficient back support.

2. Carry a big bag. Frequently carrying a large and heavy backpack on one shoulder will cause the shoulders to become unbalanced, and the body will naturally raise the shoulders, causing spinal deformation. You should try to lighten your backpack to a weight no more than 10% of your body weight. In addition, the backpack can be worn alternately on both shoulders. If you have a lot of stuff, you can divide it into two bags, one on each shoulder.

3. Wearing high heels or flip-flops for a long time . Raising your heels can cause your back to arch, which puts added pressure on your joints. Wearing flip-flops for too long can also lead to unstable feet, which can cause back pain. Therefore, avoid wearing high heels or flip-flops for long periods of time.

4. Prone to anger . A new study finds that holding on to resentment or complaining excessively can make back pain worse. Emotions and muscle tension directly affect the intensity of pain signals. Therefore, being more tolerant and complaining less can prevent back pain.

5. Sitting at a desk for a long time . In modern society, many people sit at their desks for long periods of time all day long without paying attention to maintaining correct posture. Studies have found that sitting puts 50% more pressure on the spine than standing. People who sit for long periods of time have less physical activity, and the back muscles become weakened due to lack of activity, which in turn leads to back pain.

6. Excessive stress . Excessive mental tension can cause stiffness in muscles throughout the body, including the neck and back muscles. Continuous tension will prevent these muscles from relaxing, which can easily lead to body aches, including back pain. Studies have found that exercise, meditation, and taking hot baths can help reduce stress and calm tension.
