Can retinal necrosis be cured?

Our eyes are not only the windows to our souls, but also the embodiment of our mental outlook. If you observe carefully, you will find that if a person is in good spirits, his eyes will be bright and full of energy; on the contrary, if he is listless all day, his eyes will be dull and irrelevant. Eye diseases are the biggest enemy of the eyes, among which retinal necrosis is the most terrible. So is there still a chance to cure retinal necrosis?

If the retinal artery is necrotic, surgery is required. In addition, blood pressure, blood sugar and blood lipids must be controlled, otherwise it is easy to cause arteriosclerosis and local ischemia and necrosis.

The fundus is the tissue at the back of the eyeball, namely the inner membrane of the eyeball - the retina, optic disc, macula and central retinal artery and vein.

When people go to the hospital for medical treatment, especially those with hypertension, diabetes, kidney disease and neurological diseases, they often ask an ophthalmologist to examine their fundus.

Fundus examination

Fundus examination is very important, and many diseases can be reflected in the fundus. The retinal blood vessels at the fundus are the only visible blood vessels in the human body. Doctors use them as a window to understand the condition of blood vessels in other organs. Therefore, its changes reflect the degree of changes in some organs to a certain extent.

Fundus structure What is the normal fundus structure like? The retina is a layer of tissue as thin as paper. Because the choroid containing rich blood vessels is underneath it, the fundus of a normal person is orange-red, bright and shiny. A circular light red area with a diameter of about 1.5 mm can be seen on the nasal side of the posterior pole of the retina. It is called the optic disc (optic papillary). It is the only way for retinal blood vessels and nerve fibers to enter and exit the eyeball. When suffering from certain eye diseases or brain diseases, the optic disc may swell, which is what we usually call optic disc edema.

On the outside of the optic disc, there is a slightly darker color and a reflective light spot in the central fovea, called the macula, which is the part with the sharpest vision. In the center of the optic disc, you can see the retinal artery and vein, which are divided into four branches. The arteries and veins always run together and move towards the periphery of the retina. These blood vessels are important for maintaining retinal nutrition.

The eye is a spherical organ. The parts that everyone can see in the previous paragraph include: the sclera (white of the eye), the cornea in the middle, the iris behind the cornea (the brown part), and the pupil of variable size controlled by the iris. The parts that are not visible at the back include the vitreous body, retina, choroid, etc.

The cornea, iris, lens, etc. in front of the eyeball are defined as the anterior segment by the ophthalmologist, while the vitreous body, retina, choroid, etc. in the back are defined as the posterior segment. The bottom of the posterior segment of the eye is called the fundus. The fundus is composed of the retina, fundus blood vessels, optic nerve head, optic nerve fibers, macula on the retina, and choroid behind the retina. Pathologies in these parts are collectively called fundus diseases.

The harm of fundus disease to people is mainly affecting visual ability, and severe cases can cause blindness.
